What a shitty day for my gaming. My two favorite classes/characters in two games I play (BDO/ TFD) got shafted with the nerf bat.

I don't want to know more.

Is this like the Pacman dude they made a documentary of (or featured him in can't remember)

Yes, it's the 'villain' from King of Kong. Looks like Jobst claimed Mitchell did some frivolous lawsuit to some guy named Apollo, who was then forced to settle and had to pay a ton of money to Mitchell, which destroyed his life and led to Apollo killing himself.

Turns out none of that was true, and Jobst got it off an anonymous reddit comment. Apollo had serious mental health issues and his suicide had nothing to do with Mitchell in any way. Jobst was told of this by a mutual friend, and gave a half assed retraction at the end of a completely unrelated video that few people saw. After being sued, he just went all in on a "Billy Mitchell's reputation is so bad there's nothing I could say that would defame him" defense and made a bunch of videos about it while never mentioning the whole suicide thing and just hammering him on how he obviously cheated at video games, so this whole lawsuit was a joke and he couldn't possibly lose. Now he's trying to play the "I never said it WASN'T about the suicide thing y'all just assumed" card, and nobody's buying it

The best part is, the shit he pulled is the same kind of thing he makes his videos exposing.

will be on both ps+ and gamepass so will check it out that way. i've seen people say they finished the game in 20 hours but have kept playing with new puzzles for over 100 hours, crazy

That's pretty cool. Seems all I have time for are puzzle games and roguelites in short spurts. Fun to have something else to look forward to.

Man there’s a lot of gaming shit going on in the next month in games I’m following or playing.

Wartales, which I’m currently playing through again, has a surprise DLC coming out this month. New giant overworld ghost boss to hunt.

Drova just had a big game changing patch.

The Last Spell, which I just finished another playthrough of, has a new DLC coming out this month. New race, racials, weapons, map.

Last Epoch s2 next week. Haven’t played it in a while but may check it out.

Erenshor, a single player MMO simulator, releasing Monday. Cool game, and the dev redid the entire games graphics with a specific filter based on my suggestion and showing him what it looks like in other games. Game looks so much better now and everyone loves the change, feels good.

Escape the Mad Empire release this month, another one I helped playtest.

No Rest for the Wicked character wipe and huge patch later this month.

Mandragora release next week.

Clair Obscur release later this month.

Spellrogue 1.0 this month.

Monster Train 2 next month.

I need to take a few months off work!

Oh shit Monster Train 2, the first one was crack cocaine
There’s a demo for MT2, the new mechanics are cool additions, I can’t wait to see what they do with them. They just released the Clan list yesterday.

Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord, besides bbs Tradewars, was pretty much the first real PC game I played.
Wizard V on SNES was amazing. Actually beat that thing and damn it was fun. I really need to play the remake of Proving grounds that came out for PC.

This was the first PC I ever played games on. My Aunt had it for work and I would use it to play shit on the weekends.

yeah, dad had that compaq portable for work as well.

bunch of games. but Castle adventure was the big one for that.

going back through old games, and charting influences is often so interesting. things you take for granted now. or maybe don't even realize which was first.
Like he talks about Dog verus Kobolds in this. west versus japan. He's actually a bit wrong. as he tought it was Japan playing telephone. But its actually Western Kobolds that changed.
Kobolds are western folk creatures, akin to Gnomes and other house spirits. they were humanoid, with dog/rat features, and horns. Dnd reflected this, all the way up to 2e in 1993.
It was in 2000 with 3e that they changed to be Reptiles, speak draconic and look like, and worship dragons. 2000 that late.

He talks about the mad overlord of course, and Dungeon meshi and the idea of a wizard overlord.. Wizardy 1 was 1981. wizardy 6, bane cosmic forge was 1990.

Ed greewood's Ruins of Undermountain for DnD was not until 1991. undermountain, and Halastar, were 1991. WAY after wizardry.

--
Conversely, Ravenloft predates Castlevania, vampire hunter d, and Jojo's.

--
All the old rpgs having direct starwars references is always funny. here of course with Mooks, and the spaceship twist.

--
Starcraft, 40k, and Starship troopers movie, versus book. and zerg/bugs/tyranids.
This one is crazy when you really think about it.

starship troopers book is of course first. bugs in that are fairly humanoidish. spiders, with multiple armes, use weapons, cybornetics.
Then comes 40k. genestealers, and tyrnanid, ala Space hulk.

starship troopers MOVIE came out in 1997. BEFORE starcraft.
starcraft was 1998. although, "orcs in space" was 1996 e3. so its not like it was not being worked on internally, nor that the bugs idea was not set before starship troopers movie. and 1997 e3 also had a more modern showing.
the simultaneous creation of starship troopers movie, and starcraft zerg is.. ???

SO you hear people all the time say how Starcraft was supposed to be a 40k game, or how the zerg are just Tyranids. but the reality is its kind of the opposite. Tyranids blatantly where changed to match the Zerg post Starcraft. As previously, they were based off Starship troopers Bugs. But the book, not the movie.

Bob fitch outright claims he didn't even know what warhammer was when making starcraft.

Game is out. Have made it through 5 days. Still lots to see I think and some puzzles I am stumped on.

It's fun and not frustrating at all (yet).
