After doing some backlink research on my "competition" I realize that I"m down bythousandsof links. Currently the way I"m getting traffic is with longtail keyword results from blog posts.

But, if I want to be competitive on the legit keywords, I need to generate at least a few hundred "quality" backlinks just to be competitive. WTF... Even in my super niche category, I need to generate over 100 backlinks to be competitive...zomg.

All backlinks aren"t equal. Also, if the competition got a link somewhere, you may be able to as well.

Just because the competition is currently ranking for something doesn"t mean that they"re optimized for it onpage. If you have a much more focused and relevant page, you can rank it with far less offpage work. (Doesn"t really count for high competition terms, of course.)

If you"re already pretty close to the top in the rankings, you could always throw some fiverr spam at your competitors too! (and if it doesn"t have a negative effect, you"re only a few fiverr gigs behind.)

Just backing up splok here.. Competitor link building is a valid tactic - Go after their mid to high level links if possible. The lower level links are easier to get but will also have minimal impact.

Lower quality links show their impact in aggregrate. Just one higher quality link can make a huge impact.

Go where the people interested in your niche are going. If you do remodeling or build swimming pools, or landscaping or whatever, something like houzz.com has some good credibility. Plus you can get your portfolio on there for free - houzz[dot]com/getStartedProf

When I prospect, some of my first questions are -
Who"s going to see the link? I want something that"ll get me real eyes on my link.
Is the site relevant? When someone sees it I want them to be the right audience.

Building for rankings is fine but if you"re targeting where your audience is correctly you"ll get rankingsandreferrals. I want to rely as little on search engine traffic as possible - If Google disappears tomorrow I need for my business to continue earning income while I create a new strategy.

I countered it, explaining that he held the check up and demanded 1/3 of the bill, for no other reason than he wanted the money from insurance to go to him. I"ve also reported it for abuse, as I have a signed copy of the contract in hand.

I just checked, and what"s funny is that in Yahoo, we have organic listings in every city and suburb we do business in. It"s Google that we don"t.

One of the cities one of my stores is in has 3 zip codes. My store is literally 3 blocks away from one of the other zip codes. You search pizza from the zip code my store is actually in, number 1 organic listing. For the others, it"s like 6 or 7.

I asked my franchises CMO about organic vs paid search clicks, but they didn"t have the data handy. They are suppose to get me the numbers but we will see. If they do get me the numbers I"ll let you know.

Splok everything you are saying holds absolutely no weight because you give no advice to the contrary.

You say "No just because they have panda in the link means nothing" when in reality people who know SEO and make huge REP on fiverr are backlinking to people"s sites with related keywords to the website they are linking to.

Google Panda checks a backlink, sees if the keywords are related, and makes the proper weight based upon that. Google Panda is a joke of an update, everyone knows how to game it, you"re welcome for the education.

You have absolutely no idea how SEO works and give absolutely no advice on how you would do it differently than how everyone on the internet is successful at.

You either have an asston ofcontentor an asston ofbacklinks. Thats how you get traffic, and you have no idea.

I mean, the SE"s do look at the trustworthiness of sites, their Pagerank, and the relation to the site they"re linking to.

Yes, spamming links and content on the net will build SEO, I"m just wondering in the long run, will it help you or hurt you if you:
    A. ever try to sale your business/site
    B. Google audits your site and sees that you have load of illegitimate links

    -----------------

In other news, what"s the best way to list a company locally? My two businesses do land/timber in every county in the Southeast. I"m wanting to pay to have them listed as I don"t have 40 hours to sit there and do it myself.

There is no such thing as a "trustworthy site." It is backlinks that hold the same keywords on both pages (link-ed & linked-to).

If you have a lot of content/pages on your site it will build SEO and it will never hurt you.

"Ilegitamate" backlinks are backlinks to your page that is not related to your content which is known by Keywords. Sites don"t get penalized, the backlinks have a lower weight. Your rank gets penalized because the weight of the backlinks are lower if the keywords aren"t related. Google doesn"t kick you low, they just re-do the weight of the backlinks linking to you, so ofcourse your position will drop if "busted."

So if a backlink to your page isn"t related, it will get weighted less than a backlink that does.

You rank higher with local keywords. Oregon Timber, Oregon trees, Oregon timber industry, Portland Paper, etc.

There are fiverr gigs for that with people smarter than any local FoH idiot that doesn"t know that stable backlinks have keywords that relate to the page its linking to.

    Because Fiverr"s solegit?

But, srsly though, how are you supposed to know who the proper backlinkers are vs those with spam bots that release their fury on comment boxes across the interwebs with comments like, "Your article do great things for my satisfaction and interest. Thank you for your contemplation on these matters." I"ve gotten 200 comments in my site"sglossarysection all linking to buyviagra.com or trustworthyreversemortgage.com. PRO BACKLINKS YA!

My company makes legitimate money without the internet, so in my mind the $5 risk far outweighs the reward I"m currently making. Show me a $5 investment that actually does what it says it does and I"m there. So far though, all I"ve heard here is, "Fiverr"s the place to be! ...wtf, you want evidence!? Rofl."

    Seriously, look atthisspammy looking stuff.

Orthis guypromising "750+ Pr 9 to 3 ANGELA style backlinks, include some edu and gov backlink". One of the comments in response is, "Thanks. Delivered, bug only 3 edu and no gov, and I wish you"d specified that they were going to be profiles, which aren"t that effective post panda/penguin."
To which the backlinker responds to with, "Hello war3rd , thank you very much. I am sure that all of your backlinks are good. As you know, all these Angela backlinks are profile backlink, and you can check directly all url on report file. I hope you satisfy and back again."

As far as getting listed in local directories I foundthissite.

Anyone have experience with using sites like this to post their business locally? My timber co does business in every county in the southeast and northwest, so posting manually just isn"t possible.

Yes, I"m certain that all the SEO"s peddling their skills for $5 a pop are masters of their craft who could spend their time ranking their own sites, but instead, they choose to help out the little people for pennies. How lucky for us all!

Wow, not only a fashionista but a SEO guru too. I am eternally grateful for your insight!

Ah I see now. You and Tyen are the ones selling Fiverr gigs. That"s why Tyen was all excited about the like farming in the other thread. I wondered why it was worth so much trouble when you can buy them on Fiverr, but if you"re planning to sell on Fiverr, it makes more sense! Sorry for doubting! I"ll stop interfering with your leet sales pitch.

SEO is very data driven. Yet everyone in this thread offering advice, offers zero data... You guys can get back to your game of pot & kettle now.

I resell fiverr gigs at an unbelievable markup @ socialpdx.com. I don"t sell on Fiverr, I sell to local businesses and have been very successful at it.

They do rank their own sites. Why would you think they don"t?

Pennies?Dino_stark will build eminent backlink pyramid with 5000 profiles, most dofollow, include some edu gov, good seo for youtube by using xrumer senuke scrapebox for $5, only on fiverr.com

3,750 people bought that gig @ $5 a piece. If you use multiplication, does that add to pennies or $18,750?

Splok, you have no idea what you are talking about, it"s ok though, I"ll be here to let you know what reality dictates opposed to your opinions.

Tmac, when you search fiverr, underneath the search box you will see; Sort gigs by Auto, Rating, New, Haz Video, Express Gigs.

You want to click "Rating." If you are looking at a gig that has only been collected by 1-10 people (which is what you linked to us), it"s obviously something that isn"t popular. Pick the popular ones, like21k Twitter followers @ $5.

Or even the link I posted in my above post. Collected by 3,750 people pretty much lets you know that it"s a solid ass gig.

THERE IS NO FALSE BACKLINK RISK. They only weight the fake backlinks lower than backlinks THAT INCLUDE KEYWORDS RELATED TO THE PAGE THEY ARE LINKING TO.

THERE IS NO RISK to using fake backlinks. Your rank drops because the weight of the backlinks, Google does not de-list you.

Those two sentences are something you guys aren"t understanding no matter how many times I"ve been posting it.

    Search position on Search Engines.
    Search position on Twitter itself.
More likely you will gain organic followers on a page that doesn"t look dead.
Social Networks rely on Follow/Like data as a Metric they value more than click-through to an outside source.

70% of Obama & Lady Gaga"s followers are fake.
Newt Gingrich & Mitt Romney buy followers.

What are you trying to say? That 70% of their followers aren"t fake? That I don"t know what I"m talking about? That I"m lying about something the majority of people are incapable of understanding?

I guess i can google it for you since you are unable.
