I just do not think the black lady is funny. Wiig and McCarthy have their moments...

Yeah. Ramis said over my dead body and some horrible hollywood producer took that as a verbal contract.

yeah everything about this movie has me scratching my head. all ugly chick cast, horrible costumes, crapass ecto-1, etc. whats there for guys to ooh over? ghostbusters is a guy movie even with an all female cast, girls dont give a fuck about fighting ghosts. so right there you lost 90% of your target audience. and you know what, girls dont like watching ugly girls in movies either. they could keep Fatty Mcfat but they need to drop the other 3. first person to go is sasquatch and replace her with a cute black chick like zoe saldana or equal in hotness. then replace scrawny ginger with a proper ginger like karen gillan and then cast a male actor to be egon. after that you fire the the asshole who thought garbage bags with roadkill tire treads was a good idea for a uniform and give these girls fitted costumes. finally, send that shit car back to the junkyard and give us something with class.
Not true my mom loves those ghost whisperer shows on TV. In particular the one where the the female psychic and the male detective go and pretend to figure out the history of a place. Shows that I look at and go why are you watching this fake shit pretending to be real. I wouldn't be surprised if there is more interest in ghosts on the female side then the male side.

This movie is going to suck though.

thats different though, chicks love the idea of contacting ghosts and seances with fortune tellers and such. they eat that shit up. ghostbusters are people who do the exact opposite, they are actively ridding ghosts from the world with their phallic sticks. they are waging war with everything chicks love about ghosts. in a weird way this new ghostbusters actually makes sense that a bunch of bulldykes would also be fighting ghosts because they are ugly and nobody wants them so why not pass that anger and pain along to some ghosts fucking up fancy dinners and gozer buildings?

the problem is while the premise makes sense in a realistic world, people, guys specifically dont want to see bulldykes, they want to see good looking chicks doing sexy things or men fucking up shit.

yes i am a sexist asshole.

I would call them plain to to ugly not necessarily bulldykes but the impact is the same. I have agree this movie is deliberately walking away from the male audience.

It almost looks like it is being set up to fail so Holywood can tell the SJW crowd "see we tried it bombed" now leave us alone.

Oh and it just hit me they actually dressed those women up like sewer workers!

i also think they are trying to please the SJW crowd with this movie, but hopefully they will do the male ghostbusters movie justice.

i dunno why they went with those costumes, they are vaguely similar to the original ghostbusters outfits, but this isnt supposed to be a carbon copy of the original film, its supposed to be a fresh new female version, so their uniforms/appearance/car should be made with that in mind. more reasons why this movie is doomed to fail. its why most reboots fail. they try so hard to copy the movie they are remaking , all they really do is piss us off and remind us how creative and well made the original was.

Outfits are not copies of the original, only vaguely similar to the original, but noticeably worse. Seems they're keeping to their theme.

I was 13 when first ghostbusters movie came out and ill fully admit the the idea of college professors dressing down into work mens jump suits to fight ghosts was cool to me.

Not sure if the 13 year old girls of today will share the same positive reaction I had back then.

How is "Hollywood is out of ideas" a new concept to anyone?
It has nothing to do with being out of ideas and everything to do with predictability. It's very difficult to know how something new will fare, while market studies can give a pretty good idea of what kind of money a remake/reboot/sequel/franchise will do, so you can budget it accordingly. Also, a buck you spend advertising Big Brand Film 34 will strengthen the brand and, as such, will also help the not yet announced Big Brand Film 35 and help the DVD sales of Big Brand Film 1 to 33.

You could say that it's shortsighted, because churning out remakes after reboots after sequels after franchised films will result in the audience losing interest, but 1) Numbers are pretty much saying the opposite 2) By the time people lose interest, there is a new generation of spectators ready for a new reboot of iconic super hero N?87b.

i have a problem with wording things, but essentially i mean that they are doing their best to copy the original while tweaking things ever so slightly to make it different. there is no originality in that either. if you want to start a new ghostbusters you need to start with a clean slate. no 3 white+ 1 black team, no caddy, no ecto1, no workman's clothes, it should be a completely original start. ghostbusters itself was mildly based off other movie/tv ideas in the past,

but ghostbusters was written well and with original concepts so it became its own. this movie isnt even trying, its like some kid waiting til the night before a book report is due to copy directly off wikipedia/cliff's notes and changing words/phrases to hide the fact that he cheated, then hopes the teacher is stupid enough that they wont notice what they did. well, the teacher does notice and so do we. the laziness in hollywood right now is terrible.

Reading this thread I was surprised to hear that there are males out there that find McCarthy funny. She's trying to be the female Chris Farley now and failing miserably.
