Pretty much how I feel. Bridesmaids was plenty funny. I'm still curious about this one but the trailer wasn't funny at all. A lot of trailers for comedies ruin the movie by spoiling the best jokes, but when they can't even find any decent ones for the trailer it's not very encouraging.

yeah, he never came across as a token role to me either when i was a kid, later as an adult i realized that he likely was, but he never felt like he was a tacked on jar jar binks type of role to spice things up. thats smart writing. this trailer looks quite dumb.

some of the original cast like Murray, Akroyd, and Hudson make cameos but as DIFFERENT characters. Most likely Hudson will play Jones uncle who loans her the hearse. So its 100% a hard reboot that erases the original movies from the timeline.
There is some time travel probably, someone noticed this in the trailer

So basically they did a reboot because ripping off the origin from the original is considered a lower risk then giving the new team there own origin.

He's said for months he really only does origin stories, and that it was a hard reboot. This was further confirmed by the interview with Moranis, where he says he didn't see the point in coming back to the series 20 years later as a diff dude. I spent all day losing my mind from people saying, OH THANK GOD, IT'S A SEQUEL and just having to dash their hopes.
I saw some thing on the official site where they were making the packs, and someone toted it as as "a better trailer" and in reality, all it really showed was how god damn awesome the original ideas were. The stuff in this movie is just slightly different, but other things, esp the items, are kept relatively whole, but you get a better tech eval of it.
Today I also found out there is something called "cissexism" and apparently I am a "cissexist" and I am sort of unsure what it is but I'll get back to you when I figure it out.
And that is relevant because me saying this movie was gonna be fucking god awful somehow indicated my cissexism. That world is fucking weird to type, why two S's.

I've silently been thinking that as bad as all of this has sounded from the beginning, watch: all of the really vocal complainers are gonna see this thing and come out surprised that it was actually pretty good. Well, now I guess that's not happening. Carry on.
