It was especially obvious here - linear route through quest, squeeze through 5 holes, solve 5 puzzles, mini boss fight, etc. It's not bad, and the ending was much better than the beginning but I just don't think it's great or particularly innovative to me.

All of this colored by Elden Ring I guess, but it's fucking laughable to compare this game to ER in terms of GOTY. It's Tyson vs Wizardhawk, honestly.

I agree, but GoW will probably win due to a couple things: being fresher in the journo's minds, and being cynical here, but also have some wokeness in it. It was funny hearing Lirik trying to decide between the two... he couldn't recognize that he liked GoW more due to it being what he was playing since his explanations were pretty weak for "Game direction" and "game of the year".

Tough choice between the two honestly, both are really good games. I just think ER broke the mold of soulslike games enough to give it the nod.

Roll credits 42 hours and 20 mins. I scraped almost everything, few more trials needed, and berserkers to kill, some misc. stuff as well.
Fantastic game and story overall. Best reward post game too!

I was gonna get a PS5 for this, but I'll just wait the few years till it hits PC (probably) and in the mean time hope The Show makes its way to PC as well.

I will say the 1v1s against Thor were lame as fuck compared to Balder, they were far less cinematic and was just like every other boss fight. First game is superior in almost every way.
Playing this on PS4 pro, zero complaints in graphics department.

The opening fight with him has plenty of it, pretty much the exact same pacing as the opening with Baldur. I guess later fights are straight-up?

Yeah single arena, and nothing on the level like Freya controlling a giant while fighting Baldur. 100% wanted more Thor. Major spoilers DO NOT READ until you beat the game

Sucks they killed him off, now there is no chance of more Thor... Hints at Thicc Thrud will be looking for his hammer. Maybe she will bring him back? Also Angry Sindri is a beast, some genuine love for the dwarf duo. Tyr being Odin the whole time blew my mind, knowing this playing through again with all the conversations they had really goes to just what a fucker Odin is.

Fighting Baldur was cool and all but it was literally the same fight four times with Kratos flying through the air in-between. Memorable because it was the first time you ever saw a Norse god, some shit talking skinny dude beating up on Kratos, but overall repetitive.

Any way to shut the fucking kid(and Tyr or other npcs) from basically giving you the solution to a puzzle if you take more than 5 seconds? Very annoying. I know Kratos isn't a genius, but let me try a few things before hitting the retard button on me!

It can actually be adjusted. Not exactly sure how as I don't own the game, but the issue came up in a stream I saw.

Unless they introduced it in a very recent patch, it cannot be adjusted. I've almost platinumed the game and had the same frustration. With all the accessibility/difficulty options, not including a "no hints" option was an unfortunate oversight.

My understanding was that you cannot toggle it off, but you can have them wait longer before talking, but again, my source is the most dubious one : Twitch chat

Am I the only one that is finding GoW:Ragnarok boring as shit? I loved GoW 2018, but this feels like exactly the same game (in a bad way somehow). It just has more characters and weapons, but a much slower paced less engaging story. Maybe it picks up later? I'm almost 30 hours in and have started skipping all the extra stuff just to finish the main story so I can go buy Tactics Ogre Reborn haha.

I also loved the first one and can't quite put my finger on why I am not enjoying this one nearly as much. Like, I'm escorting around Jesus himself and I just am wishing for it to be over. Maybe its the lack of fights? Fights seem kinda sparse in this one so far. People complained about lack of mob variety in the first game but I haven't really fought a single "big" creature yet. Sure have stepped on a million wretches though!
