I'll be damned if Evangelion doesn't contain more daddy and mommy issues than the whole last 3 decades of fail monster movies combined.
Shinji is so bad that whenever I'm watching an anime/movie/show/whatever and the teenage male lead is being a self-doubting pussy, I reflexively (is that even a word?) yell for him to stop being a fucking Shinji.

Lol you are not alone.

A evangelion movie would always have the shinji shit, so kids could relate to.and how things are being made in Hollywood these days, it would be pg13 for sure.

"We need to evacuate civilians out of the city across the Golden Gate Bridge!" SFPD closes 5 fucking lanes of traffic for no discernable reason.

I enjoyed this movie though. Just needed more 'zilla being a boss.

Did anyone else think Godzilla has some Diabeetus swelling going on, when his foot crashes down in front of the huge window at the airport?

What role did the humans play besides dump gas in a hole?

It's pretty obvious Americans are just utterly incapable of making a real action monster movie. Outside of Aliens, I can't think of one worth a fucking shit over 3 decades. They always stuff in the same formula over and over: 90+ minutes of generic feels from daddy, mommy, and kiddies in a crisis/comic relief, soft porn for tweens ala xformers, then ~10 minutes of actual monsters.

I would LOVE to see the absolute total fucking mockery and molestation that would be made of something like Evangelion.
No studio is going to devote the financial resources that a well made, modern action monster movie would require without putting in enough crossover subject material to pull in as broad of an audience as possible. Sad but true.

I'm sad they didn't attack the Bruce nuclear power plant. They could've defended by ramming them with Chi-Cheemaun.

We saw them assembling in random places, running into/out of places, running around with guns, parachuting, talking about parachuting, failing to diffuse a bomb, talking about diffusing a bomb, feels for mommy, feels for kid, kids screaming on buses, tuff army guys landing helicopters, organizing trains, standing on aircraft carriers, making tuff decisions in teh war room, looking blankly into the horizon, etc

99% of this movie is humans doing the shit above. Godzilla isn't even really a supporting character. Should probably rename it to something like 'The Logistics of a Monster Attack'.

Why did it take so long for Godzilla to charge his flame cannon?

This is going to be like Batman Begins/TDK. First one kinda meh but good in parts. Second one super fantastical.

Please tell me what parts about this first movie were good. This movie was the biggest pile of shit in a while.

I enjoyed the first movie. I liked how they made The Scare Crow. Very wormie, but badass at the same time. I also liked the origin story they gave it. The overall feel of the movie was great as well. A much needed change from all previous batman movies. It set the stage, which made it good.

I'm one of those people that wasn't a huge fan of the 2nd. I've seen it 2 times total now. Yes, it's entertaining, but it doesn't click with me the way the first one did. Even though the 3rd one had its hugely silly parts, I actually liked that more than the 2nd. I don't care if the Joker's performance was legendary.. just didn't do it for me.

The kids and GI Joe got way to much screen time. The monster parts were good but everything else pretty much sucked. They acting in the movie died with Cranston. I forgot this was from the same guy who did Monsters which is even more disappointing. This isn't your grandpa's cautionary tale about atomic weapons it's just kinda dumb.
