You need to watch again. Tarly or Jaime said the gold got in the gates of KL right before the fight started. That was after the Iron Bank scene.

If Tarley had died they would have clearly showed it happening.

Keg your trying too hard is showing. Episode was great. LF shitting his pants was great, Arya v. Brienne was great, Bronn and Jaime were great, big fucking battle with dragon roasting nearly everything was great.

Right before the picture I posted above they show Jamie's shocked and sad face looking at them trying to get to the water. I assume it was to highlight being someone he knew more than just the fact people are burning.
