It's sort of irrelevant how powerful LF is in the books, his death in the show strongly suggests that he's destined for a bad ending in the books as well. At least in the books he will likely have the dignity of going out while still playing the game at a high level, instead of being reduced to a bumbling idiot.

sadly, all our favorites have been turned into bumbling idiots in the TV show. RIP Stannis The Mannis.

I always sort of suspected that he'd die when Dany and some dragons attacked the Eyrie with how much they built up how impregnable it is and how often they reference dragons shitting on castles like Harrenhal. Not going out like a bitch. He's probably my favorite book character, but he's a james bond villain in the show and is way less interesting. About as bad as what they did to Dorne and the Ironborn.

I've often wondered exactly how much detail GRRM has planned, and has given to the show regarding the end of the story. Do you think he told the showrunners exactly how Littlefinger died? Just said his betrayal of the Starks led to his death? Or did he say nothing about him leaving the show to create their own ending. Given how much trouble George has had finishing his books I tend to believe outside of someone "winning" the game the rest of the characters are mostly blank slates to be used as needed to achieve that end. It will be interesting to see if the books take a completely different path to the end, and if they do take the same path was that path driven by the show.

Benioff and Weiss always emphasize, when talking about differences between the future books and the show, that GRRM tends to discover things about the story AS he's writing. i think they used the word "exploratory" to describe his plot / writing style. so yeah, it's possible that the show will be nearly completely different than the books, with just the most major of plot points being the same, (with the ending possibly excluded from that)

So we're going to get Fast and the Furious level Hollywood writing for the last season? At least they can go crazy fan service with sex and violence, dragon fights, cleganebowl, targaryen incest fuckin.

Well if it sucks ass there is always the Deadwood movie coming out.

I’ve believed for a long time that he’s waiting for the show to end before he finishes the books precisely so he can ascertain how someone else writes it and how it’s perceived by the audience. Because he has no fucking clue what he’s doing anymore.

I recall reading somewhere that he told Benioff and Weiss how it ends (that redacted paragraph from his initial series proposal) but that’s basically it. They’ve been free to do whatever they want post book material.

supposedly there are 1 or 2 characters where GRRM told them how their story goes and end and they couldn't go there.

I only need to spend 6. Brienne and Tormund, they go fuck in a hotsprings cave while the night king kills everyone.

A new race of hermaphroditic bearded she-giants emerges. The night king, having the benefit of the wisdom of an eras-long undeath retreats to the north and rebuilds the wall.

Littlefinger was ruined the moment they replaced Jeyne Poole with Sansa, because handing Sansa over to the Boltons made absolutely no fucking sense at all.

Uhhhh, I think this is actually from the future books. Sansa is being ”trained” by Littlefinger to handle Harrold Hardyng, often called Harry the Heir , the one that, if Robbert Arryn dies, will inherit The Vale. Now, Harry the Heir is a douchebag, like the Bolton Boy. And I suspect that Littlefinger will give Sansha to the Boltons, the whole thing with Harry being just a practice run of sorts for Sansa to better handle douchebags.

Jon Snow
Arya
Brienne

Since they've got the Valyrian steel weapons.

And that puts me at 13 so then uh, Tyrion and Hot Pie for comic relief to keep the main three sane through all the killing.

And posting that gif makes me wish we had more time with Charles Dance absolutely killing it as Tywin.

At least tywin had a proper book death and not a silly tv show writer's death.

Of course we'll never know if he was really poisoned or just taking a nasty crap when tyrion ganked him.

In interviews they said GRRM told them about Jon Snow's parentage and Hodor's name origin/fate as the only 2 solid character secrets that GRRM had cemented. Everything else they claim was basically just a rough outline/general idea.
