It looked like one of those... they're a real thing but I don't remember the name of them. You have a haft, you have a blade, and they fit together but there's also a cord so that the blade can detatch.

They were used to hunt birds and for spearfishing I think.

That's my guess.

I dunno if it'll be that gimmicky. I was thinking maybe a spear type weapon with detachable head? Maybe so she can put the Valyrian dagger in it's place? Or maybe some type of double edged spear.

Her little blueprint actually says "dragonglass" for the speartip and the detachable head suggests she wants to use it as thrown harpoon kinda thing.

Pretty much means Arya's prolly gonna kill or try to kill the undead dragon.

Someone on avsforum thought it was a blowgun, and I think someone in this thread thought it was a spring-powered gun.
Gendry will shake his head and ask her how can she shoot white walker women and children...

Bonus points if she does it by stealing the face of one of the Night King's honor guard.

They showed Arya's Nymmeria in S7... which a full-body show along with her pack.

It's a long lingering shot and it's almost certainly a setup for a longer reunion in the final season.

Dunno where the fuck Ghost has been tho.

Seems more like a send off than a set up for something more

The weapon builder on the show talked about an amazing 2-part weapon that they built that'll be a "showstopper" when it's used. He was almost certainly talking about Arya's design.

The only thing we know for certain about Arya's new weapon is that it's going to be, in the words of Game of Thronesweapons master Tommy Dunne, "a showstopper."
Speaking to Vanity Fair for its "Still Watching" podcast, Dunne said, "There is one creation in Season 8 that is absolutely phenomenal. It’ll be a showstopper. That was great to finish. It was great to make, great to design it that it was about to be reverse-engineered and made into two different items."

Some speculate she was seen running through a dark hallway in the trailer with it, but I couldn't see it.

It's possible but why spend that much time and CGI on a sendoff when noone's even THOUGHT about Nymmeria on the show for six seasons except for book nerds and they could've spent those resources on giving us an update on fucking Ghost.

I mean, we're gonna get a shitton of Ghost in season 8 and they could've prepped us for that in 7....instead they spent four minutes and a chunk of the SFX budget reminding us Nymmeria exists.

I think it's more likely they needed to remind us of Nymmeria because we didn't need to be reminded of Ghost since everyone's been wondering where the fuck he's been...and Nymmeria coming out of nowhere in s8 would've seemed deus ex-y.

Doesn't look like a good design for throwing. Probably to use as a harpoon head without telegraphing it too much.

This whole episode could have been shrunk down to about 20 minutes. They only have 7 episodes and they waste so much on filler. Pathetic

When I saw it would be 50 minutes I was surprised at the short duration, after seeing it I'm surprised they managed to provide that little content and still drag it out 50 minutes.

Looked awesome on a 4K OLED, I'm sure a ton of money was spent, its just that the story didn't move at all. Lets hope EP2 steps it up a lot, people and things need to start dying.

Actually, there are only 5 episodes left but the final 4 are each movie length so they still have a good amount of room to work with but ya I kind of agree that they could've done a little bit more with the first episode.

How are you getting HBO in 4K? I thought they were only mastered for 4K for the physical media releases? The scene at the Umber castle looked like shit and I suspect that it was meant for HDR10-type low light enhanced contrast.

I didn't check if its native 4k, it looked so good I didn't even check.

Yeah, it's not 4k. Not even HBO Now supports 4k or HDR(yet). I'll definitely be buying the 4k bluray set if and when it's out.

HBO is fighting for relevancy in the era of streaming content providers and yet they arent even offering up a full HD signal much less the sort of fidelity I now expect with a 'premium' content source. Very disappointing.

I did note that The Mandalorian on Disney+ will be in 4K on the day it launches.
