to be fair, the boat captain had 8 years to show us what he had, and he never did. This is what happens when the author gives only how things end to a bunch of hacks who have to connect the dots to get there. This season is trash and doesn't make a lot of sense, only because they weren't able to get us there creatively. I have confidence that Martin had/has much better ideas and that a lot of the complaints we have would likely be resolved had the series been complete before the show was ever started. He just fucking sucks at getting anything done in a timely fashion and this is almost 100% for sure the only ending we're getting.
Bring on the spin offs!
Well, Bran is much more powerful than that given what we have seen.
Just the very fact that he can go into godswood and greensee events in history or whatever the fuck they call it (even the future?) that in itself would make him the most powerful person in Westeros. Thats not even factoring in his ability to Warg. He warged Hodor so he can do it to more than birds.
Just like the time I afk'd through time and took our guild's first shuriken pouch
No doubt. I'm not defending him in the least. Just "defending" the end result of the show, as it was dictated by him. If anything, the way the show nosedived is more on Martin than the show runners themselves.to be fair, the boat captain had 8 years to show us what he had, and he never did.

I know. I remember this story. I was a monk who was literally on like 30 clears of PoT before we saw one. I got it, but goddamn that shit scarred me.I played a rogue

It just put a giant wedge between Jon and Dany, gave the opportunity to Jon to betray Dany by revealing the secret to the Starks, gave Sansa the opportunity to share this secret with Tyrion, knowing full well it would destabilize's Dany's allies. So yeah, the most important reveal in the entire series painted Dany into a corner and convinced her to rule by fear, which conditions the whole ending, but yeah... nothing....Jon Snow being a Targaryen, THE MOST IMPORTANT REVEAL IN THE ENTIRE SERIES, meant nothing to the plot.
Being the 3 Eyed Raven allowed Bran to give legitimacy to Jon's parentage (see above) and his particular relationship with the Night King lead to the victory against the undeads. So yeah... nothing...Bran being the Three Eyed Raven meant nothing.
Her key influence on that battle was not her parlor tricks, it was sending Arya on her path to fulfill her destiny as the Night King's killer. In the end, it was her whole purpose. Not epic, but critical.Melisandre returns, lights some swords on fire, and a moat, which does NOTHING to change the outcome of the battle, only delays them for about 5 minutes, then walks out and dies, like she did something epic.
Cersei is the one who thinks she is diabolical and cunning, but time and time again, the show reminds us (and her) that her father was right about her: she is about as stupid as she thinks she is smart.Cersei, the most diabolical and cunning person in the show, just stands there from her tower and watches as her army and city are destroyed. No plan b, no surprise attack, nothing.
Varys' treason and him spreading far and wide Jon's secret was instrumental in painting Dany into a corner and, as such, is critical to reach the ending. So yeah... nothing...Varys going on and on and on about how Jon Snow needed to be the king meant nothing. The note they made such a big deal about him writing, meant nothing.
Arya being a facless assassin just meant she single-handedly wiped out the Frey. Her being a trained assassin also meant she could kill the Night King. So yeah... nothing...Arya being a faceless assassin meant nothing.
I agree with you on that one, except it's not a flaw, it's the point of the story. It's a cautionary tale, for the viewers, but also, in the story itself, for Arya.We finally get the fight between the Hound and the Mountain, and it meant nothing, because they were both seconds away from dying anyway.
Considering you don't seem to understand the story presented to you, I am not sure it's wise of you to go around calling people retards.Anyone who says this ending was even okay is a fucking retard.

I agree though that Bran going from "I can't be Lord! I am not even human anymore!" to "I traveled all this way to be the King", makes very little sense.
