He trolled the hell out of Sansa and Tyrion which I found hilarious
Trolling, like having her beaten in open court and threatening her with rape abunch of times. Also, forcing her to stare at her dad's head.

"Pretty decent" definitely describes that.

You're neglecting Kreugen's argument that Ned wouldn't have demanded splitting the 7 kingdoms. Kreugen is saying that Ned would've bent the knee to get Stannis' support. Whether that's true or not is unclear.
Good point. I always think of Ned as dead already, because what Littlefinger wants, Littlefinger gets, unless Varys can stop him.

I don't think that is unclear at all. Ned wanted to back Stannis's claim from the start, he never said anything about splitting up the realm.

With how much of a cunt Walder Frey is, I'm surprised none of these other rich, powerful houses haven't just built a second bridge a few miles downriver and said "fuck you".

Yeah he was writing to ask him to take his rightful place as king. Ned was, as always, doing the "right" and "honorable" thing.

My favorite character in Lost was Benjamin, so I can enjoy a good antagonist. Joffrey is just a vapid, emotionless dirtbag. Cast that perfectly

Yeah I must have forgotten that if it's true and it makes it perfectly clear. Rob should've bent the knee.

Robb was pretty much carried along with the tide.

But to be fair, it's not as if they had any proof of incest so Stannis's claim wasn't exactly iron clad. If you throw that out, they were all rebels anyway.

And of course, you had Renly's point of view, which was basically "who cares, I have the biggest army"

One thing I love about the TV format is how they can play with the commonalities between storylines. Case in point:

One thing I really hate about the leeches scene with Melisandre is not only did it sort of make people worried for Rob (although I guess there were other reasons to be worried about him too), but now everyone expects Balon and Joffery to die as well. In Balon's case, I doubt anyone really gives a fuck (and less a fuck was given for it in the books), but even though I'm sure everyone expects someone to off Joffery at some point, knowing it's coming takes something away from it in my mind.
I think it's great, because everyone hates him so much, and they're probably going to have to wait to mid/late next season for the payoff.

All of it makes me think Littlefinger has calculated every single step, with Varys taking full advantage while having his Targ heirs hidden away ready to swoop in. How Melisandre and Lord of Light play into all of it I'm not sure yet.

Erm, they could've named it "A Song of Ice and Fire." Or really anything, with a sub-title to go along with it to differentiate seasons.
Like Tenks said, "A Song of Ice and Fire" is a shitty title from a marketing perspective. Game of Thrones is simple, sounds good, and gives you a general idea of the theme of the show. A song of Ice and Fire is too long, gives mixed ideas about what the show is about, and seems "weird" to the audience at large.

I think people overestimate Littlefinger as a character. He just creates chaos and uses it to increase his position. Honestly his two biggest moves (Getting Lysa to poison Jon Aryn and tricking Catelyn into thinking Tyrion owned the dagger) were not only built on the idea that these powerful people were stupid enough to trust him and follow his advice but were also extremely risky in many ways. Good fiction is all about characters pulling off incredible and unlikely feats in order to accomplish their goals and surprise the viewer but I guess I feel like Littlefinger has gotten extremely lucky and overachieved.

and its acronym takes forever to type out. I even call the books I've read the game of thrones books.
