6'9'', but the film industry has shown that you can make an actor appear as short or tall as you want.

hes a big boy but yeah they will definitely need some perspective shooting for his scenes. whats the book's Mountain stand at? 8 or 9 feet?

8 feet, but he'll be acting with normal sized humans so it shouldn't be that hard. Keep in mind actors are all midgets, so he'll tower over most of them no matter what.

Physically and athletically he's got no problem. Now it's on the choreographer and fight trainer to make him move correctly. Not that the mountain needs Jaime Lannister like grace.

I like how they have him weilding a 2 hander with just his one hand like in the books. Reading that really put into pespective for me on how strong and big he really was

I always imagined the opposite, that the mountain would look decidedly un-knightly or graceful. It really comes off that he relied on his strength and size to carry him through all his fights, and he probably blew off most of his learning stuff (including fighting).

I doubt tywin lannister would allow a big dumb oaf to be his right hand man. Mountain be big, mountain be strong, but dumb? Uh no.

My impression as well. Oberyn makes the Mountain look like a fool because he's so skilled and the knight is just a raging sword swinger.

Tywin wanted him to be a monster. Intelligence isn't necessarily a prerequisite for killing and raping his way across the countryside.

Sorry if my statement was confusing but I completely agree with you.

well lets just say i dont think Mountain will be beating anyone at the GOT version of chess any time soon. but he has training, he comes from a noble family. i think he is very skilled at killing. Tywin has him for a monster because he can sic him on whatever he tells him to and wont question it. but the fact that he is unbeaten in battle means he is no Hodor.

The mountain is huge, tough, brutal, will do the dirty shit and will take the heat for it.

Well, there was also the poison, the reach advantage of the spear, and the psychological game he was playing with him the whole time.

8' tall, strong as an ox, wielding a 2H sword with some modicum of skill....yeah he definitely has a lot of advantages going for him. He's a capable swordsman, but he's no Syrio and he'd be a fool to try and be. He knows how to use the advantages he has. Keep in mind he was viewed as at least a viable competitor in the jousting and most folks believed Loras only won because of his trickery. Again, he's clearly using his size there but it's not like he just jumps on a big horse and holds a stick. He has trained.

There's no reason to think he's just a raging idiot, there's at least some skill backing that up.

Loras won partially because the mountain's horse was sick or in its cycle or something, right?

Yeah there's some skill, the kind of skill you get from being a badass your entire life.
