While I love Charles Dance as Tywin, I feel they almost made Tywin in the show a little too awesome. It's like I don't want him to die now, but in the books it was extremely satisfying to watch Tyrion kill him, as I feel the books write Tywin as far colder and you simply don't get as much "exposure" to him as the show gives you. I feel like they're going to have to really make us hate him next season.

Yea, they have to pile it on against Tyrion so we get the appropriate satisfaction when he goes down.

Perhaps have Bronn betray him in some big way as well, by way of Tywin. So there is something simmering before the climax.

Thats a really good point and I have been thinking the exact same thing. One of the most satisfying aspects of Martin's book, in regards to his villains, is watching them gather power, shit on all the characters you love and then finally...and oh so satisfyingly get some sort of justice served to them. This is why we love to hate Joffrey and Cersie, and why we are so happy that Tyrion kills his father who has been literally tormenting him his entire life. Now, as you say, we have seen almost another side of Tywin that we did not in the books (because he never got a PoV chapter, and maybe there is a good reason for that). So it seems like it will not be quite as satisfying to see the King of the Rock try and shit gold.

I think the viewers perception of Tywin will dramatically change when Tyrion gets put in jail and is about to executed. It probably depends on how much effort Tywin makes to condemn/save Tyrion.
This is a big arguing point between my brother and I.

Would Tywin diminish his family/himself by letting Tyrion die? Or was Tyrion to be sent to the Wall in an a 11th hour stay of execution?

I don't think Tywin made any effort whatsoever. None.

tyrion has one thing. the lannister name, tywin hates tyrion because he thinks of him as a disgrace to that name. for years he has been cleaning up tyrion's messes with boozing and whoring. i think he sees tyrion killing of joffrey as the final straw. more conjecture is that tywin either threatened or merely paid shae off to testify against tyrion, this way he can finally remove him from the equation either through death, which i think unlikely or forcing him to take the black and renonce the lannister name forever. this also leads to theories about the escape plan,. was varys plotting this and used this opportunity to use tyrion to kill tywin and create chaos in the kingdom leaving the door open for the return of a targ ruler?

Tywin could have killed off Tyrion at any time, so I assume that he would have sent him to the wall to be his man there.

This. I never really thought tywin was bad until tyrion goes up into his room. He seems disconnected, but i always got the feeling cersei was the one behind stuff. The moment in tywin's bedroom changes viewpoints about him drastically.

Hizdahr zo Loraq to be played by Joel Fry, who is apparently Justin Long's half ape / half alien twin.

Uhhh, I just want to say something about Tyrion killing his father... I didnt get this at first either, but it is a reasonable theory....

It was not revenge, it was not payback, it was a mercy killing. Oberyn poisoned Tywin, Tyrion figured it out and killed him to spare him a painfull dead. Ta-daaaaaaa !

Other stupid people have claimed he was poisoned, in this thread, because his poop stunk. Yeah.

But none of them were dumb enough to suggest Tyrion was mercy killing him because he knew he was poisoned. Because that's some special astr0 tier stupid there. Powerful dumb.

Except those chapters are all written in Tyrion's point of view and we hear his thoughts. So no.
