Just finished. I thought it was a very good episode. Definitely one of the best. So many good scenes; Stannis with the army out of nowhere, Bran finally getting somewhere (my wife actually said right at the start of the scene how she hated Bran's story and if it ever got better, I said...kinda right now -- cue skeletons), Tyrion, the Brienne/Hound fight, Arya to Bravos. Really the entire thing was packed. Loved it.

Downloading it they didn't have the previously on thing, so I'm pretty sure my wife was surprised as fuck when Stannis rode up out of nowhere. She did forget what the hell the coin and valar morghulis was though.

I wasn't sure what Jojen was supposed to do i nthe books once he got Brann to safety. Him knowingly going to his own death was perfect.

I guarantee his character was done at that point anyway, but i don't get why his sister lived though.
Brans future waifu?

Jojen blew the fuck up, Jojen paste is a no-go. Similar for the weird "Oberyn poisoned Tywin" theory that I always found more than a little far fetched.

Overall it was good, super disappointed that they didn't end on Stoneheart but whatever, I had prepared by expectations for that.

Yeah I dunno how anyone can forgive the Tyrion+Jaime omission. GoT writers limiting Dinklage's time on screen is a major fail, especially in this case.

Yeah dude, they fucking trolled the people expecting stoneheart too... they prolonged the pause at the end before the credits. Assholes

Jojen is implied dead in the books anyways, so really the only different thing is that Bran doesn't Jojen Grits for breakfast. Mira will probably be Bran's future waifu or another sacrifice. Unless they planned on dredging up the Tysha thing, the Jaime-Tyrion exchange from the books was pointless. Honestly I liked this change...I never really liked how Tyrion goes super saijin asshole on Jaime in the book.

I just finished tonights episode and haven't had time to process it all, holy fuck Tyrion. Didn't Tyrion give that necklace to her, the one he used to strangle that fucking cunt with, I don't quite recall but I think he did. I find it odd that Tywin lied to Tyrion about not having him executed, he had no problem telling him he has wanted him dead his entire life and we know he lied to him because he told Cersei he was going to have him executed and he sure as fuck had no problems telling that bitch things she didn't want to hear so if he wasn't going to execute him he wouldn't have had a problem letting her know.

The Bran story finally got interesting and the annoying little shit that was with him died in the process so thats a good thing, can only imagine how Bran is going to end up flying and no idea what any of his storyline has to do with anything at all still.

From a time perspective it kind of makes no sense that in the time that Jon Snow managed to walk from the wall to the camp that Stannis just shows up but I guess we have to suspend belief there a bit. Never been big on Stannis before today other than the fire bitch getting naked but Stannis showed he has his priorities straight and at least realizes that with the white walkers and whatever the fuck else is coming that there wont be anything to be king of if he doesn't address that situation, which is more than anyone else in the seven kingdoms was doing.

When Brianne and the Hound started fighting I thought for sure the Hound would kill her, wanted him to kill her because this is game of thones and I didn't see a outcome that ended with neither of them dead. Sad the Hound is dead, him and Arya were great together, though now Arya is off on her own to become some faceless/namless or whatever mystical shit that is in training I guess and could be some what interesting but Im guessing more of a side distraction now though she has kind of been a side distraction for a bit.

Dragon cunts story still remains to be fucking boring and dull as shit, I couldn't give two fucks about watching her and its a shame because she has dragons and could be interesting later on but man right now her shit is dull and uninteresting.

For the first time I was actually a bit anxious to find out about Sansa and Littlefinger and we litterally got nothing on that, sucks a bit.

Sorry for the long ass post kind of processing it while typing, Kings landing is going to be a cluster fuck and should be interesting to see how it all unravels. Tywin dead leaves brother/sister fucker in charge now and Tyrion fleeing the city with Varys. Cersei and Jamie in charge with their incestuous son as the king who is to young to do anything really, Cersei clearly wont be marrying the sword swallower now. The iron bank of Bravos funding Stannis, Tywin dead, Cersei not marrying the sword swallower, hates Margery, the only remaining Lannister with brains fled the city with Varys, how the fuck are they going to hold kings landing?

They could have done without the Jamie/Cerseri fucking scene and the Ygritte funeral. Way too much time wasted on stuff that didn't need to be wasted. Wasn't the horn revealed by now in the books? They can't cut that out can they?
Agreed

No Tysha is interesting, they did mention her a few times in the past episodes so having Tyrion run off to Essos without that haunting him is going to be odd for the story. Him leaving Jaime on good terms is also weird. The two dragons looked small compared to what we saw Drogon last time.

I think not introducing LSH was a huge mistake, watchers are inevitably going to get spoiled on it in the next year, having it as a big shocking last scene would have been amazing and redeemed the last two episodes for me. Moving Sansa's new look into this episode and showing LSH would have really been a great "well... these are the new Starks, deal with it." bookend to the season. Oh well. Pretty good season, especially the first half, but I thought the second half was not that strong.

I thought it was weird that Arya and the Hound walked up to the gate "she's dead huh? alright, seeya later". Dany is basically playing fucking SimCity without giving a shit about Westeros at this point.

Rest of the episode was badass.

Second half of the season not strong? You be trippin. Episode 8 was probably the best of the show, with 9 great and the best finale of any season so far.

Very strong season.
