So for the show they are gonna dump the Aegon storyline and merge Varys' support of him into Dany? Makes sense. I sometimes wonder if the show we are getting via HBO is what the novels themselves would have been like with a stronger editor?

I kind of hope not because I liked the drama Aegon brings and it helped to fill my personal view that Dany will end up being a villain of sorts trying to reconquer a kingdom from a young popular king. I can certainly see why they would trim it out of the show though.

So we're assuming no Aegon because Varys said "Who said anything about him?"

The spider weaves webs, no reason to take him at his word now. Could be a huge misdirection.

Or maybe they already made it clear somewhere and I missed it. I don't parse the out of season stuff too thoroughly so it's a very real possibility.

I mean...I guess it could just mean they accelerated his story(obviously) and Aegon is still a possibility at some point...but unlikely.

No it was made clear by the show runners and the posts were there explaining that to you, and you read them, you just ignored them. basically just read my posts in this thread, then read your replies denying them. Arianne, Aegon, Victarion, Euron*, Quentyn all joined strong belwas, cold hands, and lady stoneheart in the "doesn't matter, not actually important" bin of not making it into the TV show because they are ultimately, fluff characters that aren't important to how the story ends. If the roles they had to play in certain scenes were important enough then they were shot with other characters filling in the gaps (ie Cold Hands was replaced by a flock of ravens, and then Jon Snow and company, Daario replaced Belwas as champion, etc)


*there's still a certain segment of the fanbase who believes daario=euron so i'll leave that there.

I am not going to lie watching that trailer really brought home the whole tv-will-end-first and promptly raged out. I will admit to saying some very unkind things about the TV only show watchers and show runners and all that though my real rage is pointed at someone who is not my bitch. *sigh.

i still believe cold hands and lady stoneheart will appear and euron=daario and me and the 3 other people who believe it will lord it over all of you for the rest of our days when the season finale reveals it all!!

i'm mostly interested to see if they can take the shitty last 2 books and turn it into something good, my hopes are very low but all those glimpses of half naked chicks was awesome

i dont know how true that is, if you look at it as only introducing characters that matter, then are we supposed to believe that everyone new this season will matter and that all the unkilled characters this far matter as well?

Just got back from the IMAX showing of the last two episodes of last season. Was pretty killer watching the battle at the wall on screen. It had been so long since seeing it too, so was a good pump up for season 5. The trailer they played I don't think showed anything that hasn't already been previewed, but I haven't really sat down and watched everything.
