Even if I had a lightsabre and the red ring for Zelda I'd put my money on the bear. There's just so much fur and thick hide to cut through with a sword that it'd be hard to kill it before it just got on top of you. The best thing you could do is hope it wasn't full on rage-fuck mode and you could get a killing blow before it got to rage fuck mode.
Yea considering some bears weigh 1500lbs I'm reconsidering that opinion

I'd solo a black bear no problem. But a full adult grizzly with a hard on during mating season? Nope.

Gavinmad turned the dogbiting thread into a thread about how to wrestle dogs.

Now he has turned the GoT thread into a thread about wrestling bears.

Wtf.

Good, because I'd bet on the bear. Longsword, unless it was made of Valyrian Steel, is going to have a helluva time causing any real damage to the bear.

^^ Not unless they kill them all. Which they should. Because a lot of them are getting annoying.
Esp Dany "being a respectful actress" ... it was glaringly bad this episode in the realms of network tv rather than "raw real HBO" type... I hope she knows it just makes people watch s1 scenes again.

The last 2 episodes seem like they have been directed and made by 2 different crews entirely. Dany/Tyrion and Jamie Bronn are the B crew and the Wall/Sansa/KingsLanding are A crew.

The Night's King (Richard Brake, the guy who shot batman's parents in Batman Begins lol) is actually in the cast for two episodes this season: this sunday's and the finale.

Also I think they need to end the season with Jon dying. Walk of shame is going to be shocking but that is an even bigger cliffhanger and "internet breaking" moment or whatever someone posted last page.

God I want to get into the man v bear discussion, but I'll try to stay on topic.

Do you really think The Hound is the only person that could defeat the Mountain Golem? The Hound is definitely badass, but I think Bronn at this point, especially after The Hounds injuries, is just as good. Very different fighter, but he ain't nobody to fuck wit'. I'm trying to think of a super religious person to fight him, but I'm not drawing any names really. The only person I remember caring much about The Seven was Catelyn Stark and she done died and ain't come back yet.

Maybe Wun Weg Wun Dar Wun will appear and rise to the occasion! Full armored Mountain Golem versus Wun Wun with a fucking 1200lb log. I'd watch the fuck out of that.

With the way shit usually goes for people we like, the Hound will end up taking a mortal wound willingly just to make sure Gregor dies (since he's all gimpy now), only to find out he's not really even Gregor anymore. Then his head gets crushed.

zombie juice cancels out religious fanaticism tho, so we just get to see the full version of this fight:

I feel like they made Hound a lot more likeable in the tv series. By the standards of Westeros he's damn near a hero in the TV series, whereas in the books he's more of a 'not quite as much of a evil bastard as the next guy'.

If they have Cleganebowl, they can set up The Hound at the very start of next season or even have him show up at the end of this season at the side of the road when Baelish is passing through somewhere. The duel is probably going to be next season, Cersei will escape somehow and wildfire the fuck out of King's Landing after Tommen/Myrcella die, then Jamie can return to see that and choke her to death.

Oldtown is starting the matter in the books because it'll be the new capital and far enough south to survive Night's King.

Come to think of it, there's another major difference in the TV series that's actually relevant to Sandor's chances in Cleganebowl:

He got beat up by a girl.

I dunno how Brienne would end up fighting for the sparrows, but you could argue that she's ranked a bit higher than monk-hound in the show.

I don't think any man is capable of killing Ungregor 1 v 1.
I see what you did there. They have made Brienne into a damn near superhuman; she would be one. Jorah Mormont as well; though in the show he is much smaller than described in the books, in the books he is described as huge and hairy and talked about as one of the pre-eminent fighters alive. The Hound, of course, if they bring him back. Areo Hotah too, though I can't see a circumstance where they would cross blades. Bronn I am not so sure, he himself stated he would pretty much get eaten alive. Strong Belwas or Victarion are others, though they are not in the show and neither of them are likely to cross paths with him in any case.

The list is indeed pretty short though; I don't think there is anyone else who could fight him like Oberyn did, and a more traditional fight against him really narrows down the people who would be able to pull it off.

This shows what I think allot of people have noticed about season five.

That production quality has dropped in some scenes. Every single second of that action scene was flawlessly done at the production level compared to some of the low quality action scenes from this season.

Remember in the books it implies someone Golden and Hound like fight Ungregor. No idea if that will play out in the show but should be interesting.

Personally I think Ungregor is going to destroy the faiths champion and then run amok slaughtering the faith which will cause Kings Landing to basically explode into riots and craziness. Perhaps Sandor hears about this giant and comes to Kings Landing to find out if its his brother. Perhaps the riots and craziness are what kill Tommen and push Cersei over the edge.
