People keep saying that or things like that, "if they died/are cut then they aren't important in the books" but I don't think that is true at all. It is a different medium, they have to consolidate storylines and cut storylines when they can. They can't include every character, every story. That doesn't make one more or less important as far as the book goes. If the only thing you care about in the book is who sits on the Iron Throne when GRRM dies, then I guess you could say that.

yeah, i dunno why people keep claiming that the show is so streamlined and that every scene and every character matters to the conclusion of the story. one of the most important characters, varys is hardly on this show anymore and he is probably the most influential character of this show, even moreso than littlefinger who still lacks in scenes compared to dany , jon, sansa or tyrion. tyrion gets a lot of screentime because people want to see more tyrion, the show is doing what it can to please their viewers. nothing new there, just dont mistake that for their importance in the great scheme of things.

Barristan being with Daenerys is vaguely important in the books because he's a hero of Westeros, to both small folk and noble, and him swearing to Danaerys adds a great deal of weight to her claim and could potentially avert a some bloodshed when she comes to Westeros by swaying some houses to her cause, or at least making them think very carefully about their position.

Daenerys doesn't seem like the type to become forsworn on such a significant oath, so my bet is that she kills Jhaqo and takes his khalasar. She's pretty goddamn far from Meereen though, so who knows how the hell she is going to consolidate her forces. Maybe she'll just burn Jhaqo and his khalasar together and just ride Drogon back to Meereen.Daenerys_sl said:
