Bros, I just got an allergy test and found out I have a severe allergy to whole wheat. Does anyone have experience with this? Is there a difference between allergies to wheat and whole wheat? The interwebs are only showing me wheat allergy info. I was just ar the store looking for food without wheat... yeah this is going to suck donkey dicks

Whole wheat means the bran and the germ is not removed, which most stuff does not have in it(unless specifically labeled whole wheat). So something that has enriched white flour may be fine if your allergy is limited to the bran or germ.

Not to brag, but I'm pretty good at internet. Like, among the best. I gave myself a trophy and everything. And I can't find a single reference to "whole wheat allergy" outside of some broscience on livestrong.com. Only "wheat allergy". I think I'm calling my Dr tomorrow and asking her hey what the fuck. I don't know how specific that allergen test is, if it gets into the specific protein or whatever.

Meanwhile I have been pushing whole wheat on everyone in my house for years now, and virtually every carb here is whole wheat. Le sigh.

Maybe you are allergic to the bran, germ or endosperm? I would check though because it might just be the term this doctor uses.

If it's anything with wheat in it, my god have mercy on your soul. Where you having issues? What prompted you to get the test?

I always have skin problems. My skin is super dry and itvhy and I get small rashes frequently. My legs sometimes get so itchy I was worried about prediabetes at one point but it is just dry as fuck skin. A couple of weeks ago I broke out in hives all over my entire body out of nowhere, for days it was terrible, so the dr suggested getting an allergy test. And with the extent she was pretty sure signs pointed to ingestion, but said it was impossible to tell

Bros... I got these new composite plastic container thingamajigs that are supposed to be heat resistant to like 12 million degrees, so I was rendering all the excess fat I trimmed off my duck and when it was done I start pouring it into one of these new containers.

They aren't heat resistant. Hot liquid rendered duck fat magma all over my counter and down my stove.

The feast... is ruined.

Where did you get the containers? Figure they owe you some $$$ and a new duck

They were a gift, but I learned a valuable lesson today, microwave safe doesn't mean you can pour hot liquid into it. They didn't say "heat resistant" they just said "microwave safe". Next time I use my tried and true pyrex containers. I don't know what I was thinking.

That sucks, man. Did you eat any duck?
I seasoned it with some kosher salt and pepper and I'm letting it sit in the fridge for a couple days uncovered. Then I'm going to roast it and then make the yellow curry duck and cauliflower.

If it's the normal rice-dough stuff they tend to use in gluten free products, prepare for an... interesting experience. I had to taste a dozen different types so that our head chef could put something on the menu for .05% of the population, and while it wasn't bad it certainly isn't going to taste like pizza bread. Generally sweeter and more rubbery, and depending how it is cooked it might end up just tasting like pizza toppings on a rice cracker.

Protip: Do not drink gluten free beer. I have a cousin with crohns disease and he avoids gluten, and he's tried several different kinds of gluten free beer(and I've tried them as well) and they suuuuuuck. Drink something else instead(he sticks to tequila and vodka mostly), I haven't found a gluten free beer thats even remotely drinkable.

Two Brothers Prairie Path is pretty good if you can find some. Not sure how broad the distribution is outside Chicago/the Midwest.

No just wheat allergy. It won't kill me or anything, just fucks my skin up. I probably don't need to go all militant anti-everything but I am just trying it out to see how I feel. A lot of people online seem to say they have more energy after being diagnosed with wheat allergy and subsequently cutting it out, eczema disappears, etc. I want me some of those things.
