Vet called. My dumb cat ate some plastic and it caused a partial obstruction in his intestinal tract. I swear to lord jesus I will never own another animal after the current two croak.

Operation: Eat My Stress is now under way. I will be ordering panzerotti for lunch.

I too am done with pets after this idiot dies. Couple thousand to fix kidney failure that we only noticed because his breath started to reek.

Man, I would never spend thousands of dollars to extend the life of a cat. My dog maybe, but that cat would be in a hole in my back yard.

People love their cats as much as their dogs. I would imagine, judging by your post, you wouldn't own a cat to begin with so at least you don't have to worry.

Many people in the country don't exactly own cats but don't mind them because they take care of rodents. They aren't seen as pets though.

We had a cat for 18 years. He had to be put down due to cancer. Poor cat was in pain. I was absolutely wrecked. Like a surprising amount more than I thought I would be. I do think watching my kids go through it probably multiplied my own grief by about a thousand.

I still miss that cat.

Oh, no doubt. I'm simply saying that many people have them as house pets and would do everything they could for them, just as they would a dog.

We have two cats, plan on getting a dog when we move out of our townhouse and my girlfriend's IUD is coming out next month. I'm on suicide watch.

I wouldn't mind eating 'pet' meat as long as they didn't suffer, but I also feel responsible to any pets I have and much like Bisi I will probably not get another pet after my current one dies. Partially because cleaning up after them sucks and I don't like it when pets die.

He always wanted to have a food truck where all the food was served from/on a stick.

(btw - I am sorry to read of pet troubles, I love the critters -have them in my home - no indoor cats currently; just the outside feral ones that eat the mice and keep the snakes to a minimum. Incidentally, I don't think one ever owns a cat, the cat owns you, they can't help it.)
