He was trying to stop the Patriots, end their social control. His plan was to use the EMP blast from a nuke over New York to shut down Wall Street and expose the Patriots to the world and create a liberated free zone Outer Heaven in the city. Then he was going to hunt the Patriots down and kill them one by one. His death at the foot of Washington's statue, he reaches up towards Washington with a smile on his face, because everything he was doing he was doing to try and bring freedom back to the people

No, it did exactly what Kojima wanted it to do, which is challenge the player to question whether anything they thought to be true in the narrative was true.

I couldn't possibly tell you how many hours I've spent in Tribes, but I can tell you it's far too fuckin' many.
I still refuse to play any game made by Hi-Rez Studios for what they did to Tribes Ascend by basically making it p2w and then abandoning it completely, blaming the community on the games problems. The game is okay now but it was far too little far too late and the community is like 100 people.

The first time I played MGS 2 I felt the same way. It wasn't until like 5 years later when I replayed it after the ps3 came out and I had a backwards compatible one and there was like no fucking games for the thing, that I realized how solid that game's story is.
