I never watched this movie.

Is it more torturous than Persian Scaphism?

think they are going to have to recon some of the ending to make a sequel work. there were already errors, as paris was showed to just be wrecked, but looks like there should be nothing left

Ya, that was dumb. They show the US military dude watching the sat feed and you see the impact right in western europe near France. Then you show Paris in ruins, but like you pointed out, there should be literally nothing left of Paris (or most of France for that matter). Plus those shots you show highlight the after impacts basically turning the Earth into a moon scape. Look at the size of those secondary impact craters. One is half the size of California! The other thing is given how close Greenland was to Europe, just the seismic shockwaves would have probably owned that bunker.

That is basically a dinosaur level apocalypse in the movie.

They walk outside and see a scorched landscape with ruined planes and dead whales and shit. The vault they showed, while large, didn't show off the capacity to be a long term living option.

I had to look it up - movie pegged the main impacting comet fragment at 9 miles across. So smaller than Chixilub by around half, but still fucking huge.

Chixilub was a double whammy because the area it impacted as very sulfur rich, so not only did you get a massive cooling event, but also acid rain from hell. So assuming Europe isn't very sulfur rich, then maybe the same shit doesn't happen to the same degree, but it would still wipe out civilization. You'd still have a cooling event due to all the ejected material + all that material would rain down on the planet and cause secondary impacts + the ultra shockwave.

Powerful shock-waves that don't knockout utilities, break glass, or even throw trees and poles into the street. No shell-shock, just gingerly go about your business.

A comedy.

Why is it that 99% of sci-fi movies suck dick? I mean its not like they dont have amazing source material to work with. Do they just get the absolute bargain basement shitty writers?

Compare Greenland vs the Road. I mean how fucking hard can this shit be? Fuck or even Deep Impact and Armageddon. At least these two tried to show the devastation serious impacts would cause. Its like the writers from Greenland got all their science knowledge from TikTok. How hard is it to spend 2 hours reading about real impacts and then asking your phone to calculate force=mass*velocity for a 2000 meter ball of rock and iron?

I guess they have all the talented writers working on all female remakes of Oceans 11 and Ghostbusters.

remember the director doing interviews and it sounded like he did research into it, but thought real science wouldn't work with flashy effects.
realisticaly taking out a few city blocks isn't as impressive as a chunk of FL, even if that would really destroy most of the south east us

That movie is a blanket of depression. One of the few apocalyptic movies where the characters actually look like theyre in an apocalypse.
Yeah it ain't a happy go lucky story. I put it in the Leftovers category of depression porn.

The book and the movie were bleak as fuck. The way they end is probably the most you could hope for in terms of a "happy ending", even though long term everyone is no doubt fucked.

havent seen this movie. but yeah. nothing survives that first screenshot in the mid northern atlantic. thats bigger then yucatan hit. and then, in the water/atlantic. huge amounts of water blasted into space or evapped.
movie magic. any asteroid hit that is actually survivable, doesn't look all that super impressive on a global scale.

Watched this last night and enjoyed it a lot more than I expected too. Sequel comes out in a few months. Not sure what that’s gonna be about.
