There hasn't been a new spec that I haven't liked from the last few expansions. You can also try before you commit on the 80 boost you get.
You activate it, it transports you to a level 80 zone and allows you to go HAM for a bit til you decide to keep it.

Oddly when SWTOR came out it migrated too. I started using steam. No reason but laziness I guess.

I might have to try that. Did the later advanced classes or whatever essentially make the original weapon sets obsolete for each expansion?

I dont know how much better they are but they are so much more fun that it's hard to go back to the original ones.
The necro has a sick katana now. One of the major characters wields it and it looks dope.

Honestly, I don't think I've used an elite spec's weapon as my primary for any of my characters, and I barely use them even as secondary weapons. Original weapons work just fine if you see one you like.

Each weapon for a Necro feels good, imo. You can quickly tell what niche you're filling as you start using any of them. Unlike some of the other classes that make you decide between two weapons that feel about the same, but you need to look up their DPS. What I meant is that you could basically go Tank mode, and still do stupid amounts of DPS. I personally think theyre too strong, but people say theyre balanced. Im glad it's not my job to balance them lol.

One of the best parts about this game is you can be viable with what you find "Fun". You may not be 100% effective but if you like to run a high survivability condition spec you can do so. Experimenting and figuring out what works for you is fun as shit.

Too many things in GW2 are buried behind having to do ABC to get to X, then DEF to get to Y, etc. Tedious.
The classes can be a lot of fun though, as well as the meta events in the various zones, or at least HoT.
Here is a site I used to try out most of the elite specs, its pretty great, imo. Necro is awesome. Engineer is awesome.

So much of A.net is diversity these days ( and I say these days, I have checked out on the game for a while) I keep coming back but nothing captures that magic feeling at launch for me. Easily my favorite MMO of all time and Heart of Thorns my least favorite expansion. I straight leveled 5 characters to 80 (Warrior, Ranger, Guardian, Necro, and Mesmer), and token leveled Engineer and Elementalist. I have actually spent some time playing as Berzerker and Reaper but most of time time post expansion has been spent with the Reaper, since A.net class favoritism seems ridiculous at the times I have come back. I would love a Classic server for this game, even though I might be the only one.

It's one of the main reasons I only play these types of games in short spurts and why I never got into the habit of achievement hunting on any game platform. Collecting garbage for days on end etc until I finally have the epiphany of "why the fuck am I doing this".
It's why I have extra love for games that you can 100% organically without needing to do some odd ass fuckery that pretends to be content.

And if you want the special achievement weapon skins for each class you have to do the story 9 times. Noped out of that quick.
GW1 stories were much better than Guild Wars 2's. Some of the GW2 stuff isn't bad but the main game story and the EoD story cause my eyes to bleed. Don't play mmo's for the lore / story though. And GW2 is still one of my favorite games.
