I'm looking to mount my TV on the wall. Does anyone have experience with mounting game systems behind the TV?
I'm guessing you'd need a good amount of space between everything to avoid excessive heat buildup. This may lead to having the TV sit out from the wall farther than desired.

I set mine up normally with a shelf I installed with heavier reinforced struts to hold it for the consoles themselves rather than tucking the systems behind. (Note: This was a bad idea with cats however I learned later...)

After seeing the movie Gravity in 3D, I decided that I want to see it in 3D at home, too, when the bluray comes out. So, my Christmas present to myself is going to be a 65-70" 3D set. I can't afford a high-end unit. I haven't researched much yet, but the 65" Vizio seems to be about the lowest price at $1800. I've had a 54" Panasonic plasma for a few years and it's been a great tv.

Panasonic to no longer make Plasma display panels after this year

Panasonic to withdraw from plasma TV business- ?Z?-??Sp(?Z?-??-??z)

BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
That is quite disappointing. I had been reading that they were no longer dumping major money into R&D on them as they had felt that they had reached a peak on the technology, but would still be continuing to build them.

Oh well. Hopefully they put the love and care that they had for Plasma engineering into OLED and become a leader for Price and Performance there as well.

What love and care? They bought Pioneer's patents and made panels some still consider inferior.

Panasonic was generally considered to make the best Plasma TVs. Sure, you might find a random exception here or there but in general they were usually the best. That's a major blow to the plasma business, probably a signal of the beginning of the end of plasma TVs, unfortunately. Less options is never a good thing for consumers.

I just took back an LED tv for another plasma. Picture just isn't comparable for my needs/environment - and the plasma was cheaper. Disappointing news from Panasonic.

Sure, but none of that means they put love and care into their product. I would expect at least something better than old Kuros.

Kuros were only great in Black Level and their last line matched the Kuro in Black Level and blew it away in all other areas.

Since the new material Graphene is going to be the future of electronics. Anyone wanna take a wild guess when we can see TV's become the size of empty walls in your house. I'm sure we are a few years away but it would be exciting having a 120"+ tv.

I'm going to have to rearrange my living room if I want to go bigger now because my 60" TV reaches from the front door to the window in the living room. Any bigger and I'm going to have to move to another wall. I am willing to do this.

If you're going for a super minimalist "just the TV" look then putting the consoles behind it sucks. They are too fat and the TV+mount will stick out 6-10". Better off using an interior wall and putting consoles/STB/whatever in another room or closet on the other side of the wall.

I was running around Future Shop yesterday and got to see the new Sony sets. Damn they looked impressive. I'm sure most of that was the canned demos and sets being tuned for the store but has anyone had any real world experience with them? They looked amazing and were priced ok.

My biggest need is making sure the TV will be able to network with my NAS and play my mkv / mp4 library. I've been using twonky.

Picked up a 65 inch ST60 Panasonic Plasma after hearing that news and it was on sale for 2 grand Canadian (not a bad deal for up here). Wonderful TV I can appreciate why everyone is so upset they are stopping making them now. Saw a 60ZT60 set up for a demo as well. WAY out of my price range but damn was an awesome looking TV it is.

Looking to get a 55 inch tv in the next few weeks. Have my eye on a 55 in. Vizio (Costco $749 1080p 120Hz Razor LED Smart TV E551i-A2). I've had a 42 in. Vizio for 7 years and am happy with it.

I'm tempted to wait until Black Friday to see what deals come along for 55 in. name brand tvs, but don't want to hassle with long lines or low supply online.

Would you recommend anything else out there of equal or better quality for a similar, or lower price? I don't care about 3D.

I have the 60" version of that TV and it's great for the price. I don't use the smart TV features but it looks great and it's super thin.
