The input lag is an absolute non-issue, for me at least. It is completely undetectable with game mode on for everything that I've played including Shooters and super fast reflex action games like Metal Gear Rising.Pulled the trigger on this for the new living room setup:
Panasonic TC-P60S60 - SMART VIERA 60 Class S60 Series Full HD Plasma TV (60.1 Diag.) - Overview
Decided to go with that over this:
Panasonic TC-P60ST60 - VIERA 60 Class ST60 Series Full HD Plasma TV (60.1 Diag.) - Overview
After reading about input lag issue.
Saw this seanfoh guy posting on avsforums during my research ; )The input lag is an absolute non-issue, for me at least. It is completely undetectable with game mode on for everything that I've played including Shooters and super fast reflex action games like Metal Gear Rising.
It might be noticeable if you are into the pro Fighting Game scene and stuff with 2D games and where counting frames matters, but otherwise you'll probably never see it. Also if you're into that you have a dedicated monitor for them specifically anyways, probably.
The ST60 is amazing and just gorgeous as fuck. It is by far the best electronic device I've ever purchased.
The 2013 GT60s have the same processor in them as the VTs. There's much difference between it and the STs image quality wise, but it has low input lag like the VT/ZT 60s. I don't think the stuff with the ST60 is really noticeable, but it would be nice for "peace of mind".It has been a few years since I bought mine and compared them, but I thought the GT was just the THX certified version of the ST? Which was pretty much unnecessary.
I could be mistaken or misremembering, however. Or they changed it since 2011.
Do you specifically need to use the apps that are built into the TV, or are you just looking for a simple way to use Netflix or Youtube? You could always snag a Chromecast for $35. Plugs into an HDMI port, can be powered from a USB port on your TV, no need for a wall plug or anything, and it's 802.11b/g/nI have the generation before Samsung started putting in WiFi in them. Is there a wireless adapter that works for the older TVs with USB ports that are actually faster than 54Mbps? I know Rosewill made one, but it's way too slow to stream anything on it.
If you go to the AVS forums there is almost always a listing of professional calibration settings for pretty much every TV. Or will be, if it is brand new. For something like that Vizio it might be settings for a range of models, but it should be pretty close to what you want to use.Pulled the trigger at Costco today and got the Vizio E551i-A2. Beautiful 55 inch screen. Haven't used the smart stuff yet and probably won't since I have a PS3 and laptop connected to it. Couldn't pass up the $750 price tag along with a square trade warranty for an additional $59. 5 years of protection puts my mind at ease. Costco is the best!
Anyone else have this TV and have some calibration recommendations? I already turned off the auto dimming feature and the soap opera smoothing effect.
I looked on there and found settinsg for the E601i and E701i but not for the 55. The settings worked except the color correction recommendations were all 100+, but my TV color settings max out at 100. No clue if it helps but on mine only certain values would open when the tv was in a particular mode / setting.I looked on there and found settinsg for the E601i and E701i but not for the 55.
