DisplayPort and Dual-Link DVI. I'm not really sure about the TVs to be honest, I know the cheap Seiki 4k TVs from this year were limited to 30Hz. Probably more common for TVs with the HDMI limitations.
Oh, right, I forgot about DVI and DP. It's still an issue with the actual TVs themselves though from what I can see, though I imagine that'll be resolved with this next year's models.

Also if he were planning to connect the TV to his PC via HDMI it would be a problem right now though yeah? Do any video cards have HDMI 2.0 yet?

Given the spec is pretty recent I would guess not. A quick Google saw some people claiming this gen of cards would not, but its hard to know if its opinion, supposition or from the horse's mouth.

no video cards have HDMI 2.0 yet but both nvidia and AMD latest gen will do 4k with dual HDMI (yeah thats exactly what it sounds like) or displayport/dvi-d. I don't think any 4k TVs though allow you to output 4k @ 60hz or higher over 2 HDMI cables, they only do 4k @ 30hz over one. HDMI 2.0 is being finalized and should be mass produced next year.

I saw the Seiko 4k at Frys here, we hooked it up to a laptop and it was not that great. Decent enough text size and DPI but pretty bad input lag at 4k (@ 30hz), we could kinda run it at 1080p @ 120hz but saw a lot of ghosting and flickering problems.

the gSync stuff is going to be heaven, everything I've seen of it make them look even better than the old school gigantor CRTs with no input lag and snap refreshing, seriously wanna wait for those. Until then, the $350-400 27" 120hz 2560x1440 eBay DVI-D monitors are a dream, I have two and they look amazing just dunno what the quality is like, but for the $350 I paid each (5 day free shipping from korea) they will hold me long enough until gSync is easily available.

Frys had the Panasonic 60" ST60 for $997 a couple days ago, looks like it's gone now though. Best Buy was price matching too.

Maybe it's just me, but I don't think I'd drop 2 grand on a LED TV at this point in time. There are going to be SO many changes coming down the pipe in the next couple years (from OLED to 4K), I wouldn't spend that much on any 1080p LED right now, when I know I'd be wanting to upgrade in the next 2-3 years to new technology.

I did see the 9k curved OLED set at Brandsmart down in West Palm the other day. That freaking thing is amazing looking. I'd never pay that for a TV but holy shit it looks nice.

Maybe I will get something cheap to hold me over and do a real upgrade later.

And if he's going to buy a TV right now, find a good deal on the Panasonic ST60 line imo. They can't be beat for insanely high quality at a reasonable price.

And with the way the TV market has gone over the past decade or so, that $9000 TV might be down to like $3000-$4000 in another 2years. Prices drop like mad from year to year

If nothing else, as OLED and 4K start to gain a bit of traction, it should drive the price of 1080p LEDs WAY down, as they will be seen as "old technology" by that point. Kind of how you could get absolutely kickass Plasma TVs for well under a grand for the past few years because the perception was that they were old tech.

I can't remember if you've said so or not Ked, but is your TV area good for Plasma TVs? If so, you should definitely go that over any LCD/LED.

I'm going to cry the day my Plasma dies and I can't get another to replace it
Yeah, for sure. I'm fairly certain mine will last until at least the end of this console generation though and there's no reason for me to replace it before that.

I wish i could see these panasonic st/vt/zt 60's at there best.

Every store I got to they look not so great.

I looked at a Sony KDL65W850A right next to a ZT60

And the Sony blew it away for what I want. Really bright picture without actually turning up the brightness. It was almost like the colors were lighting the TV.
Theres no way this store was pushing the Sony because the ZT was way more expensive.

Honestly not sure. Never had one and didn't do much research on them. Its for my RV. Normally we have a decent amount of open windows and light from them but they can be closed off for total black out. Viewing angles are pretty straight on. Mostly used for gaming when we are away. Not a big movie family.

Sounds like it'd be perfectly fine then. You get waaaaaay more value for price/performance for Panasonic Plasmas than anything else if you can accommodate them.

Is there any problem with having it enclosed in a cabinet with heat or anything like that?

Not that I know of. There's probably be a fair amount of heat coming from it, but it'd just warm up the room and wouldn't really hurt anything.

Infact I wish it would get warmer, it's cold as fuck in here and my Plasma isn't helping for shit.

We posted the facts straight from AVs. Your whole argument of I don't notice it means nothing.
There is nothing scientific in your analysis, you are posting purely opinion.

That Plasma has a HUGE amount of input lag. it's been proven

The argument started over that PC monitors far exceeded tv panels, and there is absolute no comparison between a 120hz monitor with no input lag versus your shitty plasma.

Apparently they didn't see this...
Pretty sure we already covered this once in the HDTV thread with Seans only defense being that he doesn't play FPs's or Fighting games so it doens't matter to him.

They currently have PS4s hooked up to ZT60's at Frys. I've seen the amount of Blur you get from turning first hand, and I can post the real numbers cited from people who did tests on input lag.

So buyer beware on the Plasma ST60, that is not an optimal gaming experience. I would go with a very low MS off the current SONY led line
