porn is definitely leading the 4k charge I saw 4k rips of two adult sites on IPT today, each was like 400 gigs damn

i dunno if i wanna see porn stars in 4k tho
No, I don't even like it in HD. I don't need to see every stretch mark and pimple. Sometimes a little blur is good

Yeah, 1080p can get a little weird sometimes in porn. I don't think I ever want 4k porn, ruins the fantasy.

I'm still pulling my hair out over a TV. As stated before I got a 7 year old Vizio VX37L 37inch which was 720/1080i and it was ahead of it's time really, but still that is 7 year old tech now.
It is big, bulky, uses 210 watts of power and I got ccfl burn marks in the corners( but it still works fine ).

I'm wanting a 39-42, 1080p that uses 30-60 watts that has at least the picture quality of what I got. In comparison we have a 32" Westinghouse that is shitty as fuck filling the screen half the time, looks like shit and sounds like shit we bought in 2007 as well, issues we never had with the Vizio.

I was leaning smart TV but my router/modem is mounted directly above the TV and I have my smart apps running through my Blu Ray atm so thinking about it, I really don't need a smart TV.
I'm not wanting to spend more than $450 but I'm really wanting it in the $300 range. I just want to make sure I don't downgrade my picture in the process. I have literally not seen any other HD's in person in the past 5 years long enough to compare.

I guess I should include ones I am thinking about
Amazon.com: VIZIO E390-B1E 39-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV: Televisions VideoVizio 39" for $321( 2014 model )
Amazon.com: LG Electronics 42LB5600 42-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV: Televisions VideoLG 42" $399
Amazon.com: Samsung UN39FH5000 39-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV: ElectronicsSamsung 39" $328

And in the 120 refresh I have
Amazon.com: LG Electronics 42LN5400 42-Inch 1080p 120Hz LED TV (2013 Model): Televisions VideoLG 42" 2013 model at $450
Amazon.com: Toshiba 40L2400U 40-Inch 1080p 60Hz LED TV: Televisions VideoToshiba 40" for $349 it says Refresh Rate: 60Hz (Native); ClearScan 120 (Effective) but from what I heard it was effectively 120. I am not sure.

Almost any LED that you purchase today will have a better picture than your 7 year old Vizio LCD, short of buying something really, really cheap like a TCL, Westinghouse, Philips, etc.

any Vizio, LG, Samsung, Panasonic, Toshiba, Sony, etc will look great compared to your old LCD. I personally love LG, because their picture quality is on par with Samsung/Sony but they are priced closer to a Vizio, LG has the best price/performance value right now IMHO. Both my 50" Plasma and my 55" LED are LG, and they look spectacular.

Just picked up a Sony X850B 4k Ultra for the bedroom today but still very little media to watch on it. Built in Skype is kind of cool, though I'm not sure I'll use it all that much. I'm wondering if Amazon will start selling movies as standard, hd, and ultra or if the hd will become the standard and the ultra the couple dollar up charge.

I am leaning that way as well. Back when I got my old one Vizio was a standout for the quality/price like holy shit standout for the cost of what you got. I been digging around reviews lately and it seems Vizio has lost that edge and people speak highly of the LG/Samsung units now.

Walmart has this for $348 right now on a special sale. I'm thinking it is my best bet.

Edit- And I quoted the wrong person. I meant to quote Joe above.

Ya I missed it too, goddamnit. Amazon wouldn't PM either since no store was within 50 miles and it is now store only deal.

Alllllll righty then.
Got my 42"LG for $276 as above. Had it hooked up a few days now.
First off it is awesome, picture is better than Vizio mostly I had. Although the Vizio had a true glass front which made stuff look less washed imo. But the quality is nice.
Couple issues however. One is my old Vizio was going to go into the other room but it is 36.25 wide and her armoire is only 36. I threw out the stand long ago and no one seems to sell just the stand anymore. Oddly enough most 39" will fit in her armoire that the 37" won't.
So now I am on the hunt for a 39 or 40 no more than 36 inches wide.

Now the real issue. The old Vizio was much taller than this 42" is due to having speakers that you know actually face the people watching the TV. Why the fuck are all LEDS now with speakers facing the rear. I mount mine over the window, so the fucking people down the street get better sound than I do from my TV.
Sooo I need good soundbar suggestions that are reasonable. By reasonable I mean under $100, hopefully less. I just want something that doesn't like this thing does which is Homer Simpson while snacking on Marge's muff drunk.
What did he just say in that movie, it sounded like smurrrf errr dink er derr.

Oh and another thing, I would like wireless headphones too but not sure how that would work with a already external sound bar if I got one.
I watch a lot of movies/tv very late at night, would be nice to actually have the sound where I can hear it via headphones. Not sure best way to go about that without having so much shit to set up/mess with anytime I wanted to use it.

The reason new, bigger TVs fit and you old vizio doesn't is the size difference of the bezel(border) of your old LCD vs new LEDs. LEDs tend to have tiny bezels, and that's also why they don't have speakers on the front, to keep the bezel as tiny as possible.

As far as sound bars, Vizio actually makes solid sound bars that are very well priced
Amazon.com: VIZIO VSB207 32-Inch Sound Bar: Home Audio Theater

Amazon.com: VIZIO SB4020E-B0 40-Inch 2.0 Home Theater Sound Bar (Black) (2013 Model): Home Audio Theater

Oh also, if you aren't overly concerned with aesthetics, you can easily remove the plastic bezel on an LCD monitor/TV and reclaim an inch or so of space. There's probably only 4-6 tiny screws holding it together. Underneath is a metal frame that runs along the sides of the screen. It won't look overly pretty, but you could paint the(probably)silver colored metal black if you're too concerned about the look of it.

Speakers in the back are for aesthetics (thin bezel) and the simple fact a lot of customers have their own HT Speaker setup. I know I wouldnt touch a TV with speakers hanging off the sides / bottom.

God damn, that's amazing. I'd try to sneak an order in if I weren't overseas. =(

Best Buy, NewEgg, and Crutchfield are listing it "on sale" at $1799. The Amazon (Beach Camera vendor) price is $799. Makes me think they forgot the "1" before the 7.

Hell, even Amazon is selling it themselves for $1799. I'd order 5 of those fuckers.

Good luck!

I use something similar to theseAmazon.com: Sennheiser RS120 On-Ear 926MHz Wireless RF Headphones with Charging Cradle: Electronics(they don't make my exact one any more it seems). They work really well and are comfortable for watching a 2 hour + movie. You can get some occasional static depending upon where you're sitting, interference, moving around, etc. but you can usually dial it in pretty well as long as you aren't too far away. I would have to imagine the newer models would be even better, but who knows. Note, you need line of sight for the most part, but unless you get something with bluetooth (I'm sure it exists, but these simply plug into your headphone jack) I doubt you'll get away from that. Just ensure that your TV and/or sound bar has a headphone jack, and these will work.

I particularly like them because of the charging stand. I never remember to charge shit until I need it, but every time I put these back, they charge up.

So I ordered a 39" inch Sceptre for the other room and it fit into the cabinet with 1/4 inch to spare.
I paid $264 shipped and the model was so new no one had reviews on it even yet.
I'm actually jealous. I think it looks better than my 42"LG. The sound is worse but the picture and features are much much better. The remote even has a soundbar control should you order a Sceptre soundbar to go with it.

Still trying to find headphones. Vvoids suggestion above is awesome, but this damn LG only has a digital optical out. How in the fuck would I get that to work with a headphone base set.
