i would not be buying refurb TVs for your parents to receive, just way too much shit to go wrong from bad delivery to malfunctions down the road.

Also if they are the kind of people that keep shit for 10 years i wouldn't buy OLED, parts of the screen can dim after a while and while burn in isn't really an issue, viewing patterns can affect dimness. Just stop at any best buy and you will see the 4K logo images seem like they are burned into the OLED screens, although its easy to "fix" it requires some technical work again. imo the 65" Samsung 4k LED KS8500 is the best bang for the buck at $1500-2000 with the Vizio P a good deal as well, but not for old people imo as the remote is super technical (no apps built in, everything is controlled via android).

In 2-3 years we'll probably be seeing QLEDs as the new standard, especially with new HDR NIT levels being supported. Current TVs usually max out at 500 nits, and HDR really requires 1k minimum to be true HDR. OLEDs do this of course, but QLEDs will start surpassing 2k nits in next years models.

That's where we eventually got to with some back and forth. They're going to go with either KS8000 or X930d. They're also going to swing by a big box store just to see the stuff in action. Not recommending a curved one for them just b/c of how their set up is in the living room.

Got the 60" LG UHD LED-LCD with HDR and WebOS 3.0 for 630 +5% redcard. It has a 30day return, so I will be able to see if there is any blackfriday or cyber Monday action that is better enough for me to return it and actually go out for BF.

Pretty much all of the lower end LGs are faux-k, using rgbw vs rgb that other companies use. Just so you are aware of what you are getting

It works lol, it looks good. The wife wanted it and she is saying what she said last night "ohh it's so big!"

I'll read up on it, I got 30 days for return.

Wow that reminds me of back when 1080p first rolled out and companies were selling TVs as 1080 because the HDMI accepted a 1080 signal but the panel was only 720p.

Wall mounts are all pretty standard yea. If you want full articulation, like an extending arm and all that shit, be prepared to spend a pretty penny. Also be sure the wall you're putting it on has studs available where you want to mount it, cause you can't drywall hilti those things.

There was a decent one on amazon that I just ordered along with some 10ft hdmi's because my new giant ass TV takes up the entire space in my ikea entertainment center and I had to move my receiver.

My current denon does not fit in the cubes of the thing.. Maybe a reason to buy a new 7.1 that will fit! Haha

So question on buying a TV off of Amazon. I am going to pick up the LG B6 but I noticed when you click on the buy used or new button it will list a bunch of sellers. Why do some places list it at used-like new and say the box has never been opened? It's always 300-500 dollars cheaper then if you buy it when it say new. Is it a scam? I mean if I can save 500 bucks that's awesome but I just don't want to get ripped off.

OK so I've been doing a ton of looking around and I'm down to 2 choices. both tvs 65 inch. Either the Samsung ks9800 or the LG C6. I was thinking the B6 but it's the same price as the C6 now. I mostly just game and watch sports. Tv shows and blue ray movies are every once in awhile. I guess it's coming down to do I want dolby vision or do I want really low input lag for gaming. Guy at best buy was saying don't worry about dolby vision because no one is going to use it. Kinda torn because I'm worried dolby vision might take off and I'm left with just hdr10. Any help making this decision would be greatly appreciated.

Those are amazing prices. You should get the C6 instead of the B6. It's curved and does 3D. The bonus 3D is the exact same price as the B6, which happens to be flat.

I'm really glad I went with the C6. I watched Civil War the other day, and that airport scene was fucking awesome in 3D.
