My dad's been in rough shape for awhile. He was diagnosed type 2 diabetic maybe 20 years ago. Somewhere in the last 5 or so years we found out his doctor wanted him on insulin, he refused, bought metformin online (and only metformin) and has just been self medicating. I'm type 2 as well so you can't really pull shit over my eyes like other people.
Anyways two years ago he tells me work has been wreaking havoc on his legs and they're numb all the time. I tell him to go to the doctor, which h fell on deaf ears. Then a few months ago he got really sick with an intestinal thing. He actually was rushed to the ER and spent 4 days in the hospital. He won't tell us what it is, but claims the sickness sent his blood sugar through the roof. Aunt tells me the doctors ask what he's on and tell him to throw it out and start some new meds. Last week he eats at BK and his left arm goes numb And lips swell up. Couldn't even hit his blinker driving. Tells us he's fine. Sounds like not fine to me. End result is they immediately stop his meds and he's on an insulin pump now.
He's only 60 but I'm not sure why he's so stubborn. I'm not afraid of people dying but I am terrified of having to explain it to my small kids. Especially my 3.5 year old who loves the dude.
Guy has never taken care of himself, but he's never really been bad about shit either. Eats normal food, drinks water, just never exercises or eats healthy. Makes me a little more serious about my own health.
Then I've got a shitty situation of my own brewing. I debated not posting this, but fuck it. Last couple months I've been having some boner problems. It came on extremely suddenly and it's weird to me. Everything feels good, I still have the same sex drive... They're just... Not as firm and the blood seems to leave them quick if we aren't moving. It's probably early onset ED but I'm trying some supplement and eating clean/exercising to see if I can reverse it. If not I'll have to have that shameful talk with the doc.
