I'd guess the rampant Trannie meets Sheningians lifestyle on this board softens the readers skin along with any cancerous tissue.

So my second chemo was pretty bad for me. Just barely recovered and it's Saturday.

This week I ate a small burrito, bag of Funyuns, and last night a box of Kraft Mac n Cheese. Everything is like cardboard and glue in my mouth and I hope it clears up soon. Last cycle it was around this time I was just fine totally but this one is taking me a couple days longer.

Maybe everything tastes like cardboard and glue because those are the main ingredients of funyuns and kraft macaroni.

You should listen to this episode of the Diane Rehm show, which is about new methods of treating cancer:New Thinking About Treating Cancer | The Diane Rehm Show from WAMU and NPR

It's interesting, they discussed a new perspective on cancer that critiqued the current model that views cancer treatment as a war in the body, with precision strikes, etc, and there are some new treatments being tried that try to work with the cancer instead of against it. It's just theoretical so nothing that you could use immediately though. Have you read the fault in our stars? You might run into a dreamy high school hunk who could take your mind off things, and you two could be sarcastic and witty together.

I hate to sound negative but in the sake of full disclosure the side effects will most likely get worst as you have more treatments. You'll have good and bad days and that's ok. Just do what you feel comfortable doing. If you feel you need to sleep the day away, do it and don't feel bad about it. I did during my first chemo years ago and I sure as hell don't feel bad about it now. If I feel like crap and a bit worn out my ass goes straight to bed. If I'm there all day then so be it.

I know I've already stated this and I don't recall if it is an option for you but stock up on medical pot. I cannot state how much it helped during my chemo. It's not just the high effect. The anti-nausea/sick effect lasts longer than the high does.

As far as food tasting like shit goes I actually found fruit was the best tasting food I could find. Bananas in particular for me. The flavor is enough to taste but not enough to overpower your taste buds and taste like shit. Pineapple tasted great but left a wicked after taste in my mouth so I stopped getting that. Granny Smith apples were great for me too. I'd imagine it's different for everyone so get a variety and see what works for you. Lay off the fuckin Kraft Mac N Cheese. lol

Don't things start tasting metallic after doing chemo? It's not an uncommon thing to lose your appetite.

Yeah man, no sugar coating. That shit gets worse. If it helps just think that as bad as you feel the cancer is still getting the worse of it.

Maybe in another 50 years we'll have some wonderous gene therapy to revert cancerous cells. That's the hope and the dream. But for today, the treatment is to kill it before it kills you.

Yeah the first few days was zero taste. Right now it's all metallic. My favorite thing is strawberry lemonade. It has enough tart to get the tongue going without having an annoying taste.

I hit the Kraft because it tasted and smelled delicious. Same with the Funyuns.

I definitely know it is getting worse. Firsts cycle of chemo wasn't a bad week really. This cycle has me on my ass the first week and just now recovering. I can't imagine by cycle six ...

On the subject of medical pot. I have to evaluate that because of my .mil security clearance.

Oh yeah that's right I forgot you mentioned that. That definitely sounds like something you'd want to get straightened out first.

You could try Marinol maybe. Technically you wouldn't be smoking/vaping pot and unless you take a handful of pills at once it shouldn't make you high at all. It definitely didn't do that to me.

I recommend not eating anything of favorite meal type while on chemo. They did a segment on NPR on how people stop eating their favorite dishes because they ate it during chemo and it tasted like metal. It's ingrained into your brain.

Yeah I am being careful with that.

During that bad chemo I had my doctor recommended getting those diet shakes so if I just couldn't eat I could at least sip on one of those for some nutrition. It isn't ideal but it's better than nothing.

So, I've been continuing to have pretty frequent V-tach episodes and the medication to control them isn't working on me like it should.

I'm scheduled for cardiac ablation a week from Wednesday, which is a little further away than I had hoped. My anxiety levels are too high as it is, and the v-tach episodes are unpleasant at best.

How are you cancer fags coming along with your treatments?

Are they by chance giving you any benzos for your anxiety? What medications you on for your heart? Calcium channel? ACE Inhibitor? Beta blockers?

I have my 3rd cycle on Monday. Cycle 2 was rougher than 1 so basically I am dreading Monday pretty bad. I won't get scans until 6 cycles are done so I can only assume it's working.

Oh and I pulled myself off Ambien this week so that I could up it's effectiveness next week so not sleeping the greatest.

A shit ton of meds. I'm not sure what a calcium channel is, but I'll look it up.

Coreg
Toursemide
Hydralazine
Isosorbide
Amiodarone
Diovan
Digoxin - they discon'd this today
Xarelto
Spirolactone

I've probably misspelled and forgotten a few. I take Cymbalta during the day, and Temazepam for sleeping.

Edit: I'm seeing my GP and Endocrinologist tomorrow.

Are you like on week of chemo, then two weeks off?

I need some ReRolled couch doctoring my bros. About 2 weeks ago I had what I think was a bout of food poisoning. I woke up around 2 am and started vomitting uncontrollably. Every 15 minutes I was at the toilet puking until nothing was left in my stomach and I was dry heaving. This lasted about 4 hours. 2 days later I developed canker sores all over my mouth and still have them. I've felt groggy and out of sorts ever since the vomit attack and have been very run down and tired. About 4 days ago I started to feel severe nausea every time I eat something. Doesn't matter what it is, I get nauseous about 20 minutes after eating.

I've been to the doctor twice. The first time they did a flu swab which came back negative and gave me lidocaine and said "nobody knows why canker sores appear, just take this to relieve the pain and rest". The second time was more of the same. I feel like they are completely ignoring the other symptoms and just chalking it up to after effects of food poisoning.

I'm going to a different doctor tomorrow afternoon but until then I would like RR to tell me how close I am to dying and how severe this disorder I have contracted is.

You could have an infection. Canker sores can be indicative of something else aside from "just random", lol. Did they recommend to you the BRAT (Banana, rice, applesauce, and toast) diet? It will help your nausea. Your vomit is extremely acidic so it COULD potentially cause canker sores. If you are concerned, just get your hematology labs done.

Hey bro, my family is plagued by canker sores to a degree that I could only describe as hellish. I found that taking the vitamin L-Lysine makes it so I no longer get them anymore.

That has nothing to do with your diagnosis, but thought I'd throw it out there.
