I like Kibler's idea to attack a combo deck's card draw. It's a very Magicky analysis but it is a strategy that has been very effective in curbing problem decks in that game.

Just breaking it apart by wrecking Warsong Command or Grim Patron is lazy.

The reasoning is sound but Battle Rage is used in 1 deck and doesn't seem like it'll see play in any future decks atm so nerfing it seems rather dumb when Warsong has been the reason for multiple OP decks in the game already. Making a card 100% trash seems incorrect to me when Warsong is the card that will need to be constantly considered when creating new cards.

Grim Patron isn't a problem card either.

Making a card 100% trash is better than making an entire deck trash. Pretty much any of the warsong com nerfs mentioned would make the entire deck non-competitive. If anything, we need MORE variety in competitive play, not less.

Kibler's idea at least would possibly leave the deck intact, just not as powerful.

Nerfing Battle Rage is likely to hurt the deck more than if you did something like turned Warsong Commander into a Battlecry. Most likely a number of other things could be done too that wouldn't completely kill the deck. Warsong has always been a big problem for the game. Charge has always caused problems. No reason to nerf Battle Rage when Warsong will continue to be problematic.

The real answer is to change charge itself. I mentioned here before that the only thing I can think of is to make it "can attack other minions on the same turn", so no face damage. I can't think of other ways to change it, you can't just remove it from the game at this point because any card with charge would total dogshit budgetwise and still probably useless if they decreased the cost or upped the stats.

All the talk about Patron warrior just shows why I and others I know don't take Hearthstone seriously as a CCG lol.

I disagree. Nerfing warsong commander to a battlecry would be removing entire win conditions from the deck. Nerfing Battle Rage would simply make you replace the draw with less efficient draws. Grim Patron isn't super overpowering, too big of a nerf and you end up with a nonviable deck.

Here we go:

Warsong Commander: "Minions with three or less attack have charge." No more 24 attack Frothings with charge. Patrons still charge, except that five attack one he hit with the Taskmaster.

Grim Patron: Is now a 3/2.

At the very least Frothing shouldn't keep its charge, its quite often more of a threat than Grommash FFS. That's not right.

I personally would take issue with making Patron a 3/2 because that would really make certain that it would never see the light of day in non-warrior decks. I think it would be fun to play Patron in Mage/Paladin/Priest someday in future sets. I think they'll need to keep the nerfs in-class for this one.

They should make other classes better so other decks are viable instead of making the fun decks worse.

How about changing Grim Patron to Deathrattle: Summon a Grim Patron. Doesn't evoke the flavor of the grim guzzler as well as the current Patron does though.

Part of the problem with combo decks is there's no way to actually do anything about them on your turn with the current game mechanics outside of mostly easily mitigated (or at least predictable) secrets. With standard power creep at least you tend to get answers as quickly as threats in a ap/nap game vs. ap/time-out game.

Maybe me and my like 38% win rate with Patron Warrior is what's holding back the nerf bat

I've seen people make a million mistakes and still win with patron, you must be all sorts of terrible.

That's my biggest problem with the deck, it doesn't need to be played very well to have a fairly high win rate.

All of these suggestions are still only workarounds for what will continue to be the most OP mechanic in the game and that is charge. But I'm not really sure how to go about fixing that other that introducing more cards (secrets) that directly effect it.
