Flamestrike? A good curve? That's for plebs. (I do have a frostbolt and some decent 1 drops not shown).

I just started playing...looks like I should be spending gold on arena runs and not packs, right?
When should I disenchant cards or whatever? When I get 3 of a certain card? Not exactly sure what the point of all that is.

Yes 3 of a card, disenchant the extra one. Unless you want to pay money I would disenchant all the gold ones as well.

I would look to build zoo. Its cheap as hell to construct, and it's stable. It is by far the best beginner deck to learn the game with.

You can run arena if you want, but It's going to be tough for a new player. I would suggest getting packs. Remember some daily quests can be completed against the AI, and you can also use brawl now which puts you on the same ridiculous playing field as everyone else.

IMO I would just buy the packs with the gold, and buy the classic version. Its around one pack per day with a daily and couple wins.

Then I would really think about buying the Naxx adventure pack.

Also I'm not sure how it is now because I began this game in Alpha, but I believe if you complete every class up to 10 I think you get another 100 gold.

I dunno, if you ever played MTG and look through the collection and play a few primer games you can jump right into arena. You basically have to get A) RNGfucked or B) be a retard in order to not get basically a pack out of Arena. Also, it exposes you to just a lot more cards and situations without flip-flopping between $200 netdecks and mouthbreathers playing regular games.

Then once you burn through your gold you can punish yourself with shit card collection construction on the ranked games.

If you want some fun gameplay but don't want to invest a ton yet and aren't poor I'd buy both expansions to complete after you get your classes all to 10 for all the basic cards then Arena/Brawl.

Ranked with shitty decks sucks. Granted, you don't need a ton to get an effective deck, you can do a bunch of archetypes without a few legendaries in each but you'll just not be as effective as you could be.

Problem with arena is it breeds really bad habits when it comes to constructed if that is your entry point. Allot of Hearthstone is knowing exactly what your opponent plays at what time. You will never see any decks like arena in constructed.

150 gold for one pack versus 100 gold for one pack is big margin if your aim is just to get one pack out of Arena.

If all you care about is playing arena then start with that, because you can essentially stay in that format till the end of time if you want.

I haven't played Arena since May, but I believe Arena gives only gives GVG packs still, unless they changed it.

That is pretty bad if that is the case.

You might even want to think about just staying in brawl. It's a terrible way to learn the game, but you are on the same playing field as everyone else.

Every 3 wins is like 10 gold , and caps at a 100 a day. Also the dailys can be completed in there.

I won 3 games in my first freebie run through the Arena. Started a 2nd run earlier today and currently standing at 2 wins and 1 loss. How much bang for your buck do you get, time and entertainment-wise with the expansions? They seem pretty expensive from the perspective of a new player.

Is Brawl the one where you have to have a lvl 20? My Paladin is at 17 right now, so I'm almost there. Druid is the only other class at 10, so I have quite a bit to go to get the other classes up.

Yeah, but once you can que into brawl they give you decks to play with.

Its also one free pack every week for the first win in Brawl.

You may not see archetypal decks in arena, but it teaches you fundamentals like when to trade vs go face, the value of certain cards (esp during the draft phase), when to expect certain cards (turn 7 Flamestrike, turn 5 Druid of the Claw, etc.). The only thing you're really missing by playing primarily arena is learning how to play as / against combo decks which, I'd argue, a beginner shouldn't worry about.

Malygos Lock is without a doubt my favorite deck (that I can afford) in the current meta. So many win conditions. It's so balanced. I feel I stand a solid chance against any deck. No one expects that 20+ damage turn.

Gained about 6 levels on Priest up to 53 with this Brawl. By far this was the best Brawl they've introduced.
Yes, which is a very good sign. First month in a little while where I've barely played the ladder at this point. This Brawl is a main reason.

Lost my next 2 brawl games after winning 2 of the first 3, but got really lucky with the card pack I got from it...2 epics and 2 rares (my first rares). Decided to get my Paladin up to 20 so I could get the free brawl pack and got a Paladin rare from that. Not a bad day.

And neither are rares.

If his free brawl pack indeed had a Paladin legendary, it would have been Tirion anyway.

Bolvar was one of the first gvg legendaries I got so I played some games with him and he was much better than I anticipated, dat 5 slot is just so congested though, I'd totally run him if he was a */5 for 4 mana.

Wow, I totally butchered what I was trying to say last night. They were my first Epics. I'd had rares before...and I got a Paladin epic. It was Avenging Wrath.
No legendaries yet.
