Actually you're absolutely right in my experience. Control decks (in hearthstone) are incredibly simple to play because most of the time you just play the most expensive card most powerful card you can play on any given turn. In aggro you have to weigh the value of trading vs going face, have to try to play around removal, etc.

It's just that most people aren't actually playing aggro intelligently. If you watch, most zoo players on the ladder will always trade, even if it would be smarter to go face in a situation, and they'll play aggressively into mass removal.

You're probably correct that on average aggro players play worse than control players if only because to actually have a decent control deck you have likely played the game for a while. I do think that most people able to slug through the ranks and get legend with an aggro deck probably also will have played enough to be able to decently handle a control deck.

(I don't think we really disagree on anything, but Valve can't keep the fucking internet working at the international so I'm bored waiting for something to happen.)

The problem with aggro is made worse by a few things:

1st They are cheap deck to make
2nd They are easy to play
3rd They are very fast...games are short win or lose, so you can play tons of games in a short amount of time
4th They are fairly good decks, not the best but good enough.

So what happens is that they are extremely popular, and in my opinion they are boring to play, and boring to play against as there is very little strategy involved in most of them(face hunter especially).

I have to stress though, that I personally love long games that involve lot of strategy, board and back and forth between the two players.

Face hunter is the deck that annoys me the most because it's like playing by yourself...other player ignores almost everything you do and goes face...there's very little interaction, and that's what I find boring.

It's probably true though that most people prefer short games on the ladder and would not like longer games.

I still enjoy the game, it's the perfect time killer for me. I don't play a lot, and don't follow the meta much, or play netdecks so I rarely reach 10 or less rank, ...so I am mostly 10-15 rank where aggro is still extremely prevalent.

LOL, I don't know if I should laugh or cry but I decided to make deck to combat aggro, especially hunters who were giving some problems...10 games and just 1 aggro and no hunters.

I think aggro being cheap helps compound the problem but isn't the main problem. I'd be willing to bet that if Leper Gnomes were Epics and Abusive Sergeants were Rares you would still see nearly as many aggro decks just because of how effective they are.

When I get salty I hop on my druid and look for just hunters and zoo locks.

Never has a legendary pick in Arena won so many games for me, and I've had pretty much every single legendary in arena past 7 wins. So glad I went with my instincts and took Geddon over Cairne and Sylvannas. He saved me from certain death 3 games and single-handedly won me 5 games as well as helped push me to win in a few others. God that was amazing, he even lethal'd the last 2 points of damage for my 12th and final win haha. Obviously the draft was quite good itself, but I had some really, really shitty luck on game 8, 10 and 11 and on game 12 my opening hand was all 4+ mana save for a Mirror Entity and my opponent coined Muster. Stuff like an opponent's Madder Bomber not hitting any of his 3 minions and focusing down 2 of mine, a Captain's Parrot from a Shredder, Baron Rivendare from a Sky Golem and a Patient Assassin from an opponent's Shredder. But ol' Geddon game thru. Good stuff.

Now that's interesting. can either be a bluegill or a stealthed 3/2 as needed. That stealth makes it a lot easier to trade up, or for it to survive long enough to get a power of the wild buff.

I just love gimmick decks sometimes...I just wanted to piss off hunters and aggro decks.

I manage to survive, until my board is 2 deathlords and 4 annoy-o-tron. I have only 8 life left so still within lethal range of the hunter.

My next turn...2 healbots. Next turn, I echo of medhiv of of that shit.

He conceded right away.

Course the deck was about 4-6 only, but it worked in destroying aggro which made me happy. Didn't care about the other loss

I'm now happy since all I cared about was fucking with hunters...too bad I didn't get more of them.

Man, just run into a huge bug today after the patch.

Playing Ramp Druid, Ramped to Ancient of war. Picked the 5/10 version, the game then bounces it back into my hand at 5/10, and takes all the mana away.

I have never seen that before.

I'm wondering if that is happening to other cards right now.

Mechanically that shouldn't even be possible even if I was to let that card be sapped because it always returns the card back to its normal state pre buffs.

I've literally had that exact same thing happen, as well as other variations with cards that allow you to make a choice (even choosing a target, such as Shattered Sun Cleric). Every time it's happened to me, it was because I hit escape or did something weird at the exact right moment in between playing the card and choosing the effect. It sucks. It's happened to me at least 3 times.

Druid of the Saber is pretty cool. Druid now has 3 pretty excellent 2 drops. Assuming the Saber becomes a Beast regardless of the choice? I wonder if Druids will get more beast synergy.

Kind of a nit, but where are they getting these names from? TGT seems to have some pretty poorly named ones like Druid of the Saber and Argent Horserider

What's wrong with Druid of the Saber? You know Saber is a species of giant predatory cat in Warcraft right? Druid of the Claw is already taken by Bear druids and Fang is already taken by Snake druids.

Good point, forgot about the different *sabers in Warcraft. I wonder how they're going to name the forms though, Cat Form already being taken.
