He's also really bad at constructed play. I mean he's definitely one of the best at arena, but if you watch him in a tournament or grinding legend rank at the end of the season, he's barely above mediocre. Like, on a 1-10 scale I'd put him at a 6 for constructed. If he didn't have so much name recognition, he wouldn't even get invited to tournaments. I mean, it's a big problem that tournaments are usually inviting from a small pool of well known names, but i'd say the majority of them can at least back it up with high level constructed skill. Trump can't.

I think the only really clever thing he's ever done in all of constructed was that Hungry Crab play against Artosis back at Seatstory #1, and I think that third place finish was his best tournament showing ever.

I really don't understand Trump's popularity. He treats his 'fans' like shit with sarcastic passive aggressive one word answers and he's had at least one embarrassing meltdown where acted like a whiney spoilt brat. Some of his attempts on Blackrock mountain were painful to watch as he rigidly stuck to tactics that just weren't working at all and missed even the most basic of plays. How did he get so many followers?

Amaz, whilst annoying, at least exudes some personality and seems genuinely good at the game.

I believe Trump had a following from Starcraft 2 before he started Hearthstone. Pretty sure he also was one of the first and most visible Hearthstone streamers, which gave him a big advantage in getting new followers/viewers. As to why people KEEP watching him over some of the funnier and more skilled players in the 500-3k viewer range, I guess people are just lazy or are under the impression Trump is a better player than he is.

Just watched a video of his 'amazing comeback' in a ladder match with freeze mage against druid back in 2014, and the only reason he had to make a comeback was because of poor play, and he only won because his opponent made at least one big play mistake.

Yeah , i dont get how that dude has 20k+ viewers with zero interaction from the times i have watched briefly. Amaz is fun to watch , can be funny at times. Also Massan is funny to watch as well and then Kripp who is also fun to watch at times when he is losing hehe. But Trump fuck that dude is like a brick fucking wall and is dull as fuck. Also the shit eating grin he has when he is winning makes me wish i can punch him through the screen. But my favorite of the ones i mentioned , kinda been enjoying watching Massan as of late. The retarded shit he does is entertaining.

I dont watch much Hearthstone streamers anymore, use to watch Amaz a little bit because he was the only big name on in the day. I will watch Kolento and Strifecro if Im bored.

Trump never interested me and he always seemed to be rather bad, never really doing much in tournaments.

Even though I consider Trump to be bad, I do recall him hitting high legend last time I watched him. I was shocked. Gotta respect the guy at least for doing what he does. He's been around for a while and has been consistent, maybe not top in tournaments, but I still remember the Basic decks he made to get Legendary back in the day. Still impressive imo.

Trump being invited to tournaments is my biggest gripe about hesrthstone. This game needs a tournament mode either with or without out entry fees that players can get ratings and use that to get invites to events.

Right now its impossible to get recognized in the hearthstone scene with out being a popular streamer.

I wouldn't rank Trump as amazing at constructed or anything close, but you might be underestimating him a tad. He did just win two tournaments in July where a lot of the best pros participated.

With regards to his popularity I'm not sure, but different people like different things. I used to watch him quite a lot when trying to get better at general play because I prefer relatively quiet streams.

Who isn't calm? Warrior OTK with worgen takes about the same number of cards, has redundant combo pieces, is reasonably consistent, and at best would maybe have a place in the meta if patron gets nerfed into oblivion.

The Aviana OTK combo requires 2 legendaries and both copies of two separate cards, plus an innervate. I can't do all that math, but realistically you'll have to draw through almost your entire deck to be sure of drawing those 6 specific cards plus innervate, while stalling out the game long enough to win with your combo. This combo can't even be accelerated by Emperor unless you manage to keep emperor out for two turns with Aviana in hand, because the effect from Aviana makes the discount on maly and faceless irrelevant.

So yes, it's interesting from an academic standpoint, so is the 5 card combo that requires an empty board (and no armor). But aside from the academic aspect, who cares?

See that's news to me, so I guess he's finally getting better? Because I can't think of any other high ranked win since his showing at Seatstory #1.

Yeah, Trump isn't exactly shit at constructed. He's done plenty of legend runs including the basic deck ones. He's definitely better at arena than tournaments but his general play is pretty good.

Getting to legend is not a function of skill, it's a function of inevitability. If you can maintain a 50.00001% win ratio and play enough games, sooner or later you'll streak in. IIRC his f2p shaman took him til right before the end of the season to hit legend. I mean if getting legend took skill, that would imply that Zilea had skill, and that just isn't possible.

I admit I haven't made legend, but I've only made 2 serious pushes since Hearthstone came out. Both seasons I hit and hovered at 1 for a bit before I started to backslide and lost patience. At one point I was two wins off when the backslide started. So if I could consistently muster the patience to play the games, I could make Legend. I'm probably going to make another serious push next season once the dust from Tournament settles.

I'll revise to say she won't be "insane" but should be ok. Probably see a Druid deck with her for sure. My bet is Kel Thuzad deck.

I like how everyone's backpedaling now that they've had time to process the card. Yes, just as we said, its an ok ramp druid card at best. But if ramp druid was going to be a dominant force in the meta it already would be with the tools it has, this isn't enough to change it as drastically as most HS commenters around the interwebz think it will.

Meh. People will try to make it work but I don't know. Still not seeing it being *that* good to be honest.
