There is nothing more satisfying than beating a deck you are at a disadvantage against and there is nothing more infuriating than losing to a deck you are favored against, but you didn't draw a single one of 7 taunt cards or 3 heals and only 14 cards are left.

Watched Reynad's stream today for the first time since there was nothing else on Twitch this morning.
Guy bitched for 2 straight hours, not sure how people can watch him other then to steal his decks.

It's got to suck for these guys that have to play Hearthstone to make money, such a low skill cap game for anyone who is even half way competitive.

People have a love/hate relationship with Reyaud. Some people will defend him to death and others hate his guts. However, I will say this about him, I don't think any single person has had a larger impact on Hearthstone's Meta than he has.

What's funny is he didn't really create any of those decks he just made the current decks better. All you need is a stream that nets 12k viewers ,and since everyone is a follower in Heartstone you are going to effect the Meta.
Not sure how big of an accomplishment that is in a game like Hearthstone.

What's funny is one of his main gripes when I was watching is he will play a deck, and then everyone will play it against him..

Which is an exact quote from his stream today. Those decks he optimized were already in existence...

Some of the decks being used today date back to season 1... that's how much the meta fluctuates due to popular streamers.

What exactly is your point? The deck variants Reynad improved and made popular are named after him because he improved them and made them viable.

HAhaha what? Khalid do you even play this game, sometimes I wonder if you are just one of those stream junkies.

The way you talk sometimes makes me thinks you are. Those decks he adjusted were already viable, he changed a few cards on them that made them the most efficient that they could be. Something that every Hearthstone player does to a base meta deck.
The reason they became popular is he has 12-15k scrubs that tune in everyday, and copy his every move.

He even says it himself, that he wishes people would stop copying what he is doing. He hates playing against his own decks.

Yeah, he hates it so much that it lets him make his living off it. So yeah, he changed a few cards from deck archetypes and with success they were named after him. Not sure how you think that is wrong or something. Other than the fact the guy is human garbage.

Look, if you think the game has zero skill cap, why do you still play it? Is it really just so you can pop into this thread and try to assert how superior you are? I mean, for one, of all the threads to do that shit in, why not do it in the politics thread or one of the RL threads?

Recognizing a game has a low skill cap doesn't make it any less enjoyable sometimes. Do you play monopoly ,but argue that it's a game of high execution, and skill?? There are MANY games that fit into that genre.
The people that argue Hearthstone is some High skill game make me laugh. I don't know anyone that has played long enough that doesn't fully recognize what Hearthstone is.

Back to my statement that it must suck for reyand to play such a low skill caped game for a living. I'm sure if it was up to him he would much rather play something with much more execution.

He did play MtG. Then he got banned for cheating.

Edit: Oh and like I said before the high skill/low skill argument is fucking useless. Hearthstone is an online ccg. Play it if you enjoy it. Or don't.

That's not entirely true anymore, due to the tournament scene it is considered an e sport now.

Which makes the high vs low skill argument very valid.

Is there a link or info on what he got banned for?

I know back when I was judging at pro tours for MtG many years ago, the dodgy shit going on was really frustrating and most of the judges had no fucking clue. The bullshit going on in qualifiers was even worse and made me want to vomit. So I have a hard time seeing how you could be stupid enough to get banned, considering all the shit you could so easily get away with.

Well make the argument then. Why is Hearthstone a low skill game?

Edited out: I thought he was messing with sideboards and it appears he was inserting cards into a sealed deck tournament (as evidenced by the post above).

Reyand himself has said he's not a role model and he isn't. But he's a pretty good Hearthstone player and his decks have influenced the Meta for months now. Personally I'm not a huge fan of his but I do recognize what he has done to and for the game (for better and worse).

The game has a skill wall that is reached very quickly that is built into it because it has no execution. There is no great to amazing players in Hearthstone like they have in Fighting games, the game doesn't allow for it.
There is no interaction, certainly no interesting plays. The rules and the cards are not set up for that type of game.

Any halfway good player can beat a so called pro, because everyone is essentially at the same place ,and you are at the mercy of dice rolls.
The card pool isn't even deep enough to play around with. We are seeing the same decks cycle through constantly.

Taking a High skill capped game like Chess for instance. You will never see a high skilled chess player be beaten by a low skilled player.
You will also never see stops in advancement in that game because the game isn't set up around random generation.

I've never played Magic so I can't say what is going on in that game, but I assume that because of the depth of the card pool, and the differences in the way the game plays that is has a much higher skill cap then Hearthstone.
If you do reach a skill wall, I assume it wont happen for years where in Hearthstone it happens in months.

The fact that it is an actual E sport now is just hilarious to anyone who has played this game for awhile.

In fact, I'm not sure I could name any other E sport where the pros are on the exact same level as 1000's of other players with no way for the pros to break through that skill wall.
