I don't know how the theorycraft would really play out on paper, but I have to wonder how much making it three life could fuck the class or not. At least it would make it a choice though. Its really the only class where the hero power decision is nearly brainless. Handlock you want to spam that shit ASAP early game. Zoo you are often spamming it every turn past about five regardless of your situation. Every other class has to put some thought into whether using two mana on their hero power is worth the resource and in the case of mage and priest there's the choice of targets as well. Its pretty mindblowing how they failed to consider how very little the health loss offsets the reward.

A Look at Hearthstone - BMK Gaming

A Second Look at Hearthstone - BMK Gaming

That's what we're talking about, though I essentially linked both already.

To be fair, he also gushes on all the things HS did incrediblywell. Which is to say the usual Blizzard fun/polish/smoothness.

I wonder if they will be forced to do like he said and make the hero power three life and try to buff their class cards to compensate. I can't imagine Blizzard is happy with how ubiquitous locks/zoo are now. Its pretty amazing that the other hero powers are essentially as innocuous as they planned but somehow they completely shit the bed with this one class, despite the input of seasoned CCG vets.
I doubt it would be as simple as merely making the power cost 3 life though. And there's nothing they can really alter in terms of the draw either, unless they randomly made it something like "draw a random demon", but that'd be extremely lame. I wonder if it was --> draw a card, lose x life, where x = how many times you've used this ability this game. So 1 life the first go, then 2, 3, and so forth. Although no matter the life cost, the fundamental problem is still the same.

@Duppin, try not starting a flamewar for no apparent reason please. Thanks.

It was a factual statement. You're bad at games. I'm not going to avoid saying so just because you have a sandy pseudo-vagina.

People who might not know this should learn it, so they can take your opinions with a grain of salt.

That would make it completely trash the handlock deck, while leaving Zoo largely untouched. They only run a few 4's and 5's, a couple 0's, plenty of 1's, etc. It would average out just the same, I think.

It might force warlocks to use smaller cards, and I don't know the game well enough yet to know if that's something that could still cause them to be very good. But it's certainly better than the current state of things.

I'm not playing one mostly because I see how overplayed they are.

Zoo uses a lot of ones, but I'm not sure it could handle dropping all the twos and three and even the few fours. Drawing a DG or Leeroy or Argus could really impact your game. Good point on the handlock but fuck them anyway. The giants have been another fucked up card since back when with the OTK Warriors.

That's really the issue I guess, there's no elegant solution now. The problem was putting this hero power in the game in the first place.

Zoo doesn't even use the hero power that often. You don't think the void walkers, flame imps and mother fucking Doomguards are part of the reason it's so strong?

I'm actually not sold on if its a good thing or if it would be a better thing to actively shake up the meta to counteract its prevalence. Which as we've mentioned though is problematic since Naxx probably won't be enough to accomplish that and who the hell knows when any new cards will come. Which leaves us with the typical Blizzard nerf cycle instead.

I guess the question is, are people who enjoy Warlock decks right now willing to ride the train now suffering with overpriced or under-performing class cards until it gets nerfed or replaced and Warlock becomes the red headed step child it is destined to be in every Blizzard game?

They nerfed one of the best anti-aggro cards in Naxx before they even released the fucking set, so they really have their heads up their asses. Who the fuck knows where the ladder meta is going to end up.

Blizzard isn't renowned for knowing how to balance, well, anything.
Why do you say this? WoW has some of the tightest class balance of any MMO ever, at least in pve, which is their focus. Starcraft is competitive because of the balance that they put into it.

I can't think of any MMO or RTS that has nearly the balance of the Blizzard versions.
