Just recently started playing this on my Ipad. When you select the "Play" option against live opponents, does it match you with someone whose character level is close to the deck you are playing? I got a quest to win 2 games as a Warrior but I only had a level 1 with the 10 basic cards. I was just using the basic starter deck for warriors. I played however many games it takes to level 9 before finally winning 2 games. Several of the opponents had cards with blue and white symbols in the middle so I assume that means either they were a lot higher level than me or they had forked out some cash to buy some cards.

Also, do the quests reset daily? I have another one to win 2 games with either druid or hunter and I haven't played either of them yet either and don't want to go thru the same hassle as I did with the warrior.

Farm the bots first, at least until you reach level 10 on every class/beat the bots on expert. This should give you a much better understanding of the game and unlock all the basic cards. Then look up how to make a decent F2P deck, there's several guides. Do not use the premade decks, they're garbage. In fact, probably look up a guide before you farm the bots and use a decent deck to do that. The decks will be more or less all the same early on besides a few class cards change.

You get one daily a day, you can stack up to 3 of them.

You get gold for beating all bot class on normal and hard (expert or whatever). You also get gold for getting all the heroes to rank 10, those are probably your best first steps to take.

If you want to max out your gold income and have the time, quit the 40g quests and hope you get one for 60 or even 100, but they take longer.

Rarity is white - common, blue - rare, purple - epic, orange - legendary. You are guaranteed one rare per pack, the rest is usually commons.

The start is definitely rough, if you decide to play this long term, I definitely recommend shelling out for Naxx, even if it is pretty pricy for a welcome package, but you will have access to some solid base cards. If you want to be only F2P, look up Arena guides and play that.

I think playing facehunter is probably making me a worse player. It did take me up to rank 10 from 16 the other day, but then I ran into an endless string of control priests and warriors and dropped back to 16. That seems like too much variance though, even for post GvG Hearthstone, so I'm doing something less than optimal. Trying out a mech mage now, it's still aggro but there is a little more play involved than just straight to the face.
Yes, playing primarily Face Hunter could definitely make you a worse player. I see it all the time in Arena... players that clearly almost exclusively play Face Hunter. But as you've said, there's not much you can do if you want to play Ranked to win as effectively as possible without at least a small collection. You could try to focus on some other decks tho and see what it does for your overall skill level and knowledge of the game... it should definitely help. Playing Face Hunter isn't going to do you any favors.

Hahaha. I've been busy over Christmas so I haven't been able to play this Shaman draft with Kelthuzad and Sneed's Old Shredder until today. This just happened: Mal'ganis potentially one of the best possible Legendary to be summoned by Sneed's? Hmmm. Certainly fun gaining Immune out of nowhere.

I would say as a new player, focusing on winning with Face Hunter is a bad idea. There are no real awards for winning games. You get the season's card back at Rank 20 and the only other reward doesn't come until you hit Legend (and as a new player that's not likely). Gold for every 3 wins is nice to supplement income but your main source of income is going to be the daily quests.

As a new player, it's more important to learn the game and the common strategies.

Ya I got too bored with the facehunter, playing around with a shaman and mech mage now. Have had 6 game win streaks with both of em. If I can pick up a couple grove tenders I want to try out a ramp druid. I do have Malorne, Troggzor, and Dark Whispers but haven't been able to construct a deck that's very consistent with those yet.

So I went 10-3 just now with that Kelthuzad/Sneed's Shaman Arena that had 0 Fire Elementals. Decided to draft Shaman again, and here's what I have:

Shaman loves me today. Can't decide on this last pick tho. Thinking Knife Juggler just because I can rush so hard, but damn the lol's of 3 Bomb Lobbers and 2 Fire Elementals. It's really too bad I didn't get any Powermaces in this deck. God it was funny owning people with Flying Machines in my last draft.

Can't wait to play Neptulon in Arena, where he is so op.

I know a lot of you don't pay attention to the Blizzard Forums. I don't blame you because it's a lot of whining and "I lost to this card so it MUST be nerfed." It really can be a cesspool over there.

With that being said, within the last week there has been a large push of those people for a nerf to Dr. Boom. I don't agree with nerfing him at all. I think he's a good card but I don't see him as being OP in the slightest. But Blizzard has a history of nerfing cards based on "feels" and "not fun" so it's best to keep an eye open.

I remain to be convinced that he's even that good of a card. He's just a solid neutral minion in a slot that never had a solid neutral minion before.

I don't know that he needs to be nerfed, but if they do, I hope they do it so that he is still playable and not into the dirt.

Especially since some of the people I see complaining say they should lower his power, which is just about as wrong as you can get. If you drop his attack below 7 and he can't be BGH'd any more, you just made him better. Knowing blizz, they will probably make him a 5/5 if they cave in.

He's way way above value for his cost. He is getting nerfed pretty much guaranteed, he's in pretty much every deck. He will almost always require 2 cards to remove, or both a card and a bunch of damage on your creatures. I won't say the nerf will be too big though, but I'd say maybe making bomb 1-3damage, maybe making bombs able to target friendlies too(but not dr boom himself), maybe reducing his health to 6 and worst case increasing his cost by 1. I just don't see Blizzard not nerfing it. Then again they didn't nerf Undertaker last time so who knows.

Shouldn't really affect anyone though, unless you get 2 of him and want to disenchant one right now, in which case I'd say wait a bit. Patch could very well be in over a month though, so might not be worth waiting either.

So this 4 game streak I'm on with every one of them ending with Ragnaros beating my arse is what people talk about when they say Hearthstone is a P2W game?

So remember a week or so ago we were talking about thoughtsteal and how good it is. The card has been ridiculously good to me lately. Last night I played a priest where I thoughtstoul 3 thoughtsteals, and just now I played this druid where I toughtstoul a belcher and a dr boom and then dr boom and a ysera. Poor guy of course conceded when I shrank his ysera and stole it.
