He is being played by multiple pro HS players, in tournaments no less. He has been fairly average, but he is certainly playable.
I got lucky and got a shield slam from a deck, so decided to spend on a second since warrior is my weakest deck right now... but I'm terrible at playing it in general. I feel like I keep running into a shitload of minions that shit out minions (shredders, harvest golems, belchers, etc) and taunts, and getting the full worgen combo very rarely happens before I run out of steam. Any tips?
I might try that. I got gorehowl, shield maiden, a golden bouncing blade and a slam from random decks the last few weeks (along with a second I crafted), so I probably have some decent options for mid-range stuff. Until a few weeks ago, rogue warrior, and hunter were the only classes I hadn't touched, so at least how I have something to work those dailies with.
I've been playing a lot of handlock around this rank but I was out all night so it probably wasn't me. If you won then it might as well have been. I've had a shitty run so far this season.

I use it and like it, but I signed up early. I'm surprised you haven't gotten access yet, but I think they do it semi-manually, so it may be a new year hangover delay. If nothing happens you could try asking on their subreddit (/r/HearthArena) what kind of queue you are looking at since they respond a fair bit there.

I was about 50 packs overdue for a legendary and opened a Gazlowe. At least it wasn't a dupe, but I've seriously opened close to 90 gvg packs at this point and gotten 2 legendaries. My luck has been terrible.

I have no idea, just haven't received the activation email yet(yes, I checked my spam/junk mail folder). I'll give it another couple days, they're probably on vacation and it sounds like they are still doing things manually. I don't want to sign up another account for a free service.
I've been pretty lucky with gvg I think. within 15-20 so packs since it went live I managed to get a golden bouncing blade (rare), gah'zrilla, and Vol'jin. I've probably opened three times that many normal packs and the only legendary I've seen so far is black knight and a few normal goldens.
