That information is outdated. They've removed many of those daily quests and you stop getting gold at ... I forget. It may be level 10 now.

I would say malf is t1 and nova t2, diablo is t1 in pre-mades. I haven't been keeping up as much though so I may be wrong. Haven't seen enough anub to have an opinion on him.

Amzin the teamwork thing quickly gets better. Since it is still figuring out your mmr you're getting teamed up with ppl who are trying a moba for the first time. One thing I like about HotS is how easy it is to get around the map so its hard to get caught out of position. After awhile I think you'll find it is not often someone doesn't stick with the group.
Since her rework Nova is decidedly a t1 hero. Malf is usually only taken if there were support bans. In general the two supports you will see in competitive in a consistant sense is Brightwing and Uther. Uther being, by far, the most represented support. This is if you classify Tassadar as more a supporty-assassin and "support" as healing.

The current meta in the competitive scene is 2 tank 2 assassin 1 support. The most represented is generally Arthas/Tyreal/Chen/Anub for warriors, Tychus/Raynor/Valla/Nova/Fal (Valla is starting to fall out of fashion pretty hard) for assassin and Uther/BW for support.

Diablo is hardly ever picked in competitive. The only team recently to run him is ESV Wildfire and that was using a niche strategy and niche build which only worked once to take a single game off SMG (and they went on to lose 2-1.)

With all that said most heroes are somewhat viable. Even Murky and even Lili. It is more important to get your team on the same page and play well. There aren't really any completely worthless heroes out there so play what you like.

Cool, I really liked nova before, I'll have to pick her back up next.

So is tass not played in top tier or does he take the spot of a tank or assassin?

He is played a bunch. Generally he'll take a support spot. He is probably neck and neck with BW for pick/ban. Uther is still probably 100% pick/ban though. Post-nerfs BW makes her healing much worse and Tass brings insanely good shielding along with fantastic damage output if you spec into Storm + Archon. He is also probably the best lane clearer and can easily solo lane against any hero.

Ok, I wasn't sure when you said teams generally run 2 tank/2 assassins/1 support. Tassadar's shields are nice, but it has something like an 8s cooldown so having him as a sole support would be way different from how the game was played pre-server transfer with lots of heals.

Healing got nerfed into the ground a few months back. Prior to that it was 1 tank 2 assassin 2 support. Support bans were extremely common. These days outside of "We know you only like this hero" bans versus certain teams most bans are assassin or warrior bans. Though I say that but Uther is a very common ban as well. Anymore the idea is you want your front line to have a big HP bar and a good way of either getting another free HP bar (hence why Chen and Tychus are so valued) or a good way to replenish it yourself. Heals are mostly a luxury in skirmish fights. BW is still very valued since she can turn an even matched fight into a +1 for your team even though her healing ability got undercut severely. Most people take Emerald Wind on her anymore to zone out heroes during a team fight to let your assassins just blow them up.

Basically when healing was king you had two comps: 2 support heal focused and wombo combo teams. After the healing nerf there was a shift into value of CC on your front line, HP pools and sustained damage off your assassins.

Twitch

gonna stream this a bit if anyone gives a shit
Stream is basically showing that you don't need to know everything about hots but some moba experience goes a long way. Clearly you're not engaging into losing situations and doing correct map movement. The amount of people that engage into a 3v1 then rage the team didn't magically teleport onto them is mind boggling.
