Any of these Bundles worth Buying? Seems like their champ pool is so small you could easily buy them all buy just playing a lot over a month or less, right?

No gold gain is terrible. It would take like a year or playing and grinding every daily to get that gold.

Gold gain isn't even terrible, it just doesn't exist. You stop gaining gold from everything outside dailies at a certain point, so buying heroes with gold is nearly impossible.

According to Browder the idea is that you pretty much know how many days until you get a new hero instead of other F2P where you calculate it generally on gametime. I think they could find a happier middle ground.

Since I don't know who is and isn't on my friends list anymore join channel rerolled in hots client (/join rerolled) and say something in there so we can add each other

According to hotslog I'm in Diamond now (1 below their highest) so I can try and help out new people with the general idea of the game
How do you know what bracket you're in?

My thoughts on the game after going like 6-1 in matches, with maybe 10 deaths total:

- shit is really hectic... you want to kill people, push lanes, kill neutrals to spawn minions and do the map objectives
- having to play a hero a few times to unlock their other skills is lame and unnecessary
- invis heroes are incredibly frustrating to play against
- it's very easy to blame things on balance issues when there are no item/experience differences (how correct that is, I don't know yet)
- holy shit gold gain blows
- the lobby ui is atrocious, it's just too scattered across the entire screen
- everyone is REALLY bad currently

Having said all that, it's pretty fun currently

I have to play a million games to "level" up a hero? wtf is that, totally forgot about that.
They changed this at some point (it was different a few months ago, but I dont know when the exact change was I only started playing again recently).

It used to be you had to level yourself up to 8 or 10 to unlock everyone's second half of their talents.

Now you play a champion once and you should level up to get their alternate ultimate then one or 2 more games to unlock all their talents. With as fast as games go, it really isnt all that much of a burden. Everything else you unlock is gold or cosmetic.

You basically go toHOTS Logs: Home Page
and make a profile. It will associate your BNet ID and you (or others) upload replays to the site and it calculates your MMR based upon your reps.

The bundle "sale" value is basically they just add up the cost of all items in the bundle then it is "on sale" for the bundle discount. So they have like $120 worth of stuff in there for $40 it is "on sale" for 66% off.

My impressions so far are thus:

  • Losing the strategy of item buying is huge for me, as that's always been a MAJOR part of my success in dota/lol, knowing what to buy when and knowing that other people tend to make worse decisions. I've won against mechanically superior opponents just because of this.
  • Talents (or traits, forget what the level up tree is called), to some extent, fulfill the same tactical void, but because Blizzard, there's a ton of completely pointless Talents. Some Heroes are better than others obviously but by and large you're going to pick the same Talents each game for a particular hero, and because they're all set to certain levels, you don't even have the variation of which to pick first.
  • The added objectives are neat, but a mixed bag. They really drive home the team-y-ness of the game, having so many to fight over. After the constant bitching about ones' team that is the dota/lol societies, I'm just not sure people are going to be happy being forced to rely on their teammates even more.
  • Even after less than a handful of games, that whole teamwork problem really stands out. One person in a lane by themselves pushing doesn't have the same impact as you do in the other mobas, so having that one or two goobers who aren't paying attention to what's going on and helping with objectives is just going to wreck your team.
  • Maybe when the game is fully released, the team-centric gameplay will make the population that plays mostly actually work with their team, but right now it's just a small population of random anybodies.
  • Gold accumulation isabysmal. Past the initial bonus gold I get from leveling up, I don't really expect to unlock heroes. So I have to pick one I like and stick with the rotational champs, or throw money at them. I think the gold grind is just too slow considering the no doubt enormous hero pool they are going to end up with. Part of the appeal of this game is getting to play characters from your favorite Blizz games, much like Smash Bros., but if you can't actually play 80% of them... what's the point?

Overall, the game has some fun elements to it, but it just isn't in the running for me. I may play some games here and there (like I said, it's perfect for my lunch break) but there's 0 chance that as it stands now it'll ever replace League for me. I'd sooner go back to playing dota2 if I got sick of League.

Saw this list on the community forums, just curious if you guys agree?

Tier 1 (almost always picked or banned): Tassadar, Tyrael, Tychus, Uther, Anub, Falstad, Stitches, Arthas, Brightwing, Nova, Valla

Tier 2 (strong picks in most team comps): Reghar, Zeratul, Chen, Nazeebo, Zagara, Raynor, Malf

Tier 3 (decent picks, fit situational comps): Abathur, Azmodan, Tyrande, Kerrigan, Muradin, Hammer, Sonya, Diablo, ETC, Illidan, Gazlowe

Tier 4 (might as well forfeit): Murky, Lili

That list is fairly accurate but recently Abathur has been moved up to at least tier 2 maybe tier 1. He is map dependent though which hurts him in queue. Better for customs.

I would say malf is t1 and nova t2, diablo is t1 in pre-mades. I haven't been keeping up as much though so I may be wrong. Haven't seen enough anub to have an opinion on him.

Amzin the teamwork thing quickly gets better. Since it is still figuring out your mmr you're getting teamed up with ppl who are trying a moba for the first time. One thing I like about HotS is how easy it is to get around the map so its hard to get caught out of position. After awhile I think you'll find it is not often someone doesn't stick with the group.
