Considering this is basically MTGO client (again) I'm not really impressed at all thus far. Frost Arena is really a lot less interesting than the 'volcano island' map they spoiled during the Kickstarter. I guess I had envisioned more like Naxx in Hearthstone with unique deck challenges instead of the 'pay $100 and win prizes!' thing.
I suppose my biggest worry isn't incomplete content, it's just how frustratingly obtuse everything is. They promised MTGO: The Next Generation and instead we so far have MTGO: $2 Booster Packs with a hamfisted PvE component, despite the fact that it was billed as a primary feature. Granted, it's nothorrible, but neither is the competition. Plus, at least Hearthstone truly is F2P even if it is not anywhere near as intricate of a game as I'd like.
So now I'm stuck pondering this:
MTGO is the best core game
Hearthstone has the best client
Hex has...?
Of course, I already 'paid in' so I can come back in a year and pick up when it's 'awesome' (hypothetically) but, still, I'm trying to 'love' it so hard that it's breaking my heart to see the same basic BS mistakes from MTGO make it into Hex. If MTGO was Gen 1, Hearthstone was Gen 2 and honestly I'd have to place Hex back in Gen 1 as well for OCCGs. Some of the cards are hilariously clunky, it's seriously MTGO all over again.
