Where can I get a sweet pre-made holster

No, no no no no. You are supposed to fab said speed holster using only a Leatherman and parts you find in a junk drawer, otherwise it aint legit. Buying off the shelf deletes all your dork cred. Packing a Leatherman is supposed to make you an urban Bear Grylls

Wasn't really sure where to post this, but I need some help.

Today I noticed that one of my circuits wasn't working. The breaker isn't tripped. There are no GFI on the circuit. Just 4 outlets (1 outdoor plug, and then 3 bathroom plugs in two different bathrooms). I opened up all of the outlets and none of the hots had any power going to them.

I've got a Fluke Voltage tester (lights up on hot wires). I'm not sure if it works by just pressing against a breaker (since there might be so much power it picks up on everything?) but none of my circuits seemed bad (I'm not 100% sure which circuit it is, because the person who marked them is an idiot).

Not sure what else there is to check. FoH is my last stop before calling an electrician.

I hate those things, they false positive constantly. A $20 Multi-meter with continuity check is the way to go.

wiggle the breaker and make sure the bi-metal in it hasn't given up the ghost. They can die internally and still show closed. The breaker switch should take effort to open and close, if it has little resistance to toggle it's shot.

they drop plastic sheeting before the concrete pour to keep the soil from leeching the moisture out of the concrete as it cures., and it looks like some of ithe pour seeped around and under it. that oops broke loose, no biggie IMO, there should be at least wire mesh if not rebar in the slab to keep it together.. More worried that the soil under the slab is eroding. Are your gutters clogged? I see the the stake marks from the form, that is a brand new slab I take it?

edit- The more I look at it, the more it looks like air got trapped under the plastic when it was poured and made a little bubble between the slab and the ground. rake some rocks and soil and tamp it around the void till nature starts to fill it in. Keep an eye on that spot in case run off pools there and and removes more of the earth under the slab

Yeah, new slab. I saw them lay the rebar, I plan to redo most of the landscaping once office is up just wanted to make sure it wouldn't be an issue.

Its a rugged pour, a pro mason would have had it a lot tighter. If its a utilitarian slab, whatever. If its a focus area, give them shit and tell them to skim out the boo-boos, shouldnt take them but a few mins to tighten it up. But if they are just Handy Man level guys it might be beyond their knowledge.

edit- it looks like it got away from them a little when they were finishing it, I take it they mixed their own and didnt have a ready mix truck pour it?

A truck showed up, they had to wheel barrow it in though. Going to build a office on it and surround the area with a decent landscape so it will be hidden. The plan is something like this http://backyardworks.ca/wp-content/uploads/2011/08/TurnerStudio940Feature2.jpg

Thats a good thing. Plant Mixed concrete is way better than dry bag self mixed. People tend to add WAY too much water and make a weaker slab. The pour looks a wee bit stiff. like it might have been a bit 'hot' coming out of the truck and they had to fight it a bit at the end when they were doing finish. You are in good shape. I wouldn't worry.

Been doing trim at a snails pace, ended up caulking around the top of about 99% of it. I think gluing drywall can give a less even finished surface. Sectional supposed to come in any day.

Super common, tapers will tell you a drywall finish is smooth not flat. Wood framing always has big anomalies as well. If you want super straight flat walls you have to frame with steel and run 12-16 ft board 5/8in or better w/ no but joints. Only time you see that is when its a commercial space. and you still end up with every corner not being a true square. The saying goes ... Putty and Paint make a Carpenter what he Aint.

It looks good, nice lighting, good flooring choice.

I often take the flooring and mill it to cap the top of the stair rails.

So I measured the concrete slab and it is exactly 8X10 minus the 3x3 square for entrance. I explained to the slab installer that we are building an 8x10 room on the slab, thought we had an understanding. Now the room is going to have to be about what 4 inches smaller at each wall? That really fucking sucks, and it isn't like they can come back and add some inches to the slab....

Thats how it goes, building materials come in increments of 8 feet. You would have to do all kind of funky cuts and a ton of waste to go 8 feet 8 inches to wrap the outside. Anything off the shelf you install in the interior was taken that math into account.
