So I'm to the final decision phase for the bathroom.
I've decided, with your suggestions, to forego doing the toilet plumbing BUT...
I need to do the bath plumbing.

What I'm wondering is:
1. Does the P trap have to be IMMEDIATELY off the tub?

2. Can I run a direct line to the P trap from a small distance (12ish inches)?

Probably not code compliant because it's a "running" trap but can't see that flooding your bathroom.
Didn’t mean to kill the thread
I sprained my wrist being a lazy dumb ass and using a pry bar like a hammer to knock some boards off the ceiling. The pain isn’t as bad as the constant reminder of how much of a dumb ass I am every time I go to pick anything up.
We mentioned vacuums to the general contractor doing the buildout (we’re doing a lot of the demo ourselves) and he looked at us like we were crazy... so I didn’t even research the feasibility of vacuums lol.
All that ceiling stuff needs to come out anyway, but a vacuum would’ve made it a hell of a lot cleaner for sure.
Edit: as far as why it’s coming out, it’s because it’s at least thirty years old and has that oily smell that hangs in the air at every mechanic’s shop. We’re doing food service in there and I’m sure it wouldn’t meet the sanitation requirements. The fire marshall has indicated that we’ll have to have some kind of drop ceiling, but I don’t know the specifics offhand.
Well to be fair, I don’t think the last use was a mechanic. The original building was built in 1907 and was an automobile seller. Sometime in the 50s the front was added and I believe that’s when it was a mechanic. Until several years ago (not sure when) it was a Napa auto parts.I'm amazed your town isn't forcing to permit, env study, etc.
Converting a Mechanical Shop to a Restaurant is not a simple task.
I actually grabbed a face shield at harbor freight the other day. I couldn’t keep my safety glasses from fogging up. Hoping the face shield will work better.Worked with a guy that lost an eye because he did something similar while pulling a nail, that's my #1 motivator to wear ppe
