That's what I've been using, just wanted to see if there was something better. I don't know much about concrete.

Would rather not have to replace the porch yet, sunk $5.5k into fixing the ground water seepage issues.

Glyphosate won't really kill the roots. Anything that can come back from the roots it's not going to be effective on long-term. You might try something with a combination of 2 4-D and Dicamba.

Yeah that's what I figure. With kids and a dog I'm a little scared to use anything too crazy. For certain areas it might just be a battle every year

Okay fam, ... feelings on putting something over tile in the bathroom... I don't want to touch my toilet basically...

It's tile... wife really wants a new vanity...but it's an odd size 58inch so... anything we get outside custom will not just fit what's there now.

Having redone two bathrooms in my house, I can tell you that if you're like me and you layer something over existing tile you'll end up pulling it all and replacing it.

When you say you don't want to touch you toilet, reason? Pulling and replanting a toilet is pretty easy peasy for 90% of the toilets out there.

As for the vanity, is this a built into/attached to the wall cabinet style vanity? I pulled out of those out of a 56" space and replaced it with a free standing (required putting flooring in under it).

Cramped space required that cabinet on the wall... not thrilled with it, but needed storage.

THen there was my wife's bathroom. Pulled a built in vanity and replaced with a free standing sink and free standing cabinet...

Sorry no better pic of that one and no before pics... (I suck a photo documentation...)

I don't understand. Are we not allowed to use the original pic, or the actual line from the movie? Is this supposed to mean the same thing, or does it mean something new and I'm out of touch? Am I that old?

Any recommendations for patching "chunks" of concrete? We have a front porch with the propane tank underneath it, which isn't used anymore. Nothing directly supports the concrete's middle, so it changes shape with the temperature and the bowing is pronounced in the summer. You can see water pooling on the steps. It has developed a quarter inch crack over the years that I've been patching with concrete but each summer->winter, it manages to squeeze a lot of the repairs out of the crack.

Is there a better way to do this outside of just replacing the porch? If not, what type of concrete should I be using the patch the crack?

Is the propane tank collapsing internally? I would inspect that because that could cause a quick and dangerous problem. Beyond that you could build it up with some verticals and horizontal rebar and mesh and pour over top to strengthen. You can do stuff like hydraulic cement as well which may help.

I would also be curious if the dirt is just drifting and the pad has a void underneath. A lot of time good footers are needed around the foundation to help mitigate this. Might be something to look into as well.

I wouldn’t typically expect to see bowing without some type of movement of dirt underneath due to erosion, railing tank, or drifting of pad due to no tie ins to foundation/ footers.

Is this thing suspended in the air?? If so you can add some support in the middle with some risers. Get cut tube steel with a flange into a concrete footer

Yes they are built in, so no floor under... so... that's no fun.

So - some time ago my big drain out that the toilet sits on was replaced - a bit from somewhere coupled to new rubber thing deal.

Well it's a concrete slab foundation and they had to cut and break it out as all the pipes are in the concrete.

Well..they then just kinda sat the toilet on it and left it...

Well my big ass wobbled that thing and one day got tired of it... so I eventually needed to replace it and moved the toilet. And HHHOOLLYYYYYY SHIT.

The flush was randomly half draining into the hole and had then cultivated a portal to cockroach he'll.

Also the little upside down T screws that the potty attach to have no place to sit... they just fall through into the death hole.

So, I just good stuffed the ship out of it... sealed out the portal to Hades and stuck the screws in... and then put the new toilet on...

So...yeah I am not really wanting to mess with it, but it shouldn't be bad... but eh...

The tank does not support the porch at all. Basically, the space under the porch doubles as storage for the tank. There was some horizontal wood, but I doubt it was for support. It was likely the form for pouring. Half has rotted away.

You're already talking well beyond my confidence to do something correctly myself. Assume I'm an idiot.

Typing on my phone is a pain, I'll add more tomorrow.

Did you take any pictures?

Also deathwing give me a picture of that shit and measure the span (length of the suspended concrete) as well as the thickness of concrete.

Would also like to see pics of the cracks as well as the void underneath

Suprised my sister didn't get addicted while taking lots of pain killers including oxycodene. She had a wreck. While recovering someone else ran into her while at a stop light. They pumped her up pretty good for a while and she had issues with the other 2 peoples insurance, both the other persons fault and both had the same insurance. Kind of went back and forth for a while. They wouldn't pay out till she passed a drug test being clean which I found odd. Eventually she had neck/shoulder surgery and she quit cold turkey. Said she no longer needed it because the surgery fixed the pain.

Woke up without any poison ivy rashes so think I'm in the clear. Couple projects left in the near term.

1. Soffet wood all fell off, need to replace it all.
2. Fan in my office light stopped working. Isn't the bulbs so not sure. Gonna replace the chain assembly first then not sure??
3. The toilet downstairs flange/thing I forget the name is probably rotted out, get nasty smells in the winter. Gotta take the toilet out and replace.
4. A lot of landscaping. Reclaiming my goddamn yard from this Oriental bullshit plant.

Re no 3. Bowl water and trap water are more likely to evaporate in winter and allow sewer gasses in. If you have a floor drain that never gets used that's pretty common.

wife said she wanted higher water pressure, i was sure she didn't last time.

anyway theres like a ton of crazy reviews for that, decided to get this

apparently it's the gold standard for zero restriction GPM. You have to purposely buy the model with 88 jets that includes an easy to remove flow restricter, the newer one with 68 jets will not remove as well.

There are of course other models but the problem is they just do full force water but make the droplets feel like little knives, i mean this shower head is really ugly white, lulz i guess i'll keep it and try to find other ones that are chrome/nickel to compare to.

a bit of plumbing stuff to do this week.

No floor drain, it's bad enough the downstairs smells like shit. I'm pretty sure the gasket is gone

I’ve never felt so happy and so angry over the same event as when the chainsaw I rebuilt yesterday started on the first pull - happy for obvious reasons; angry because I’d just gotten home from buying the same saw just the newest model and realized the button I was pushing thinking I was putting it in half choke was actually the kill switch.

So I guess I’ve got two chainsaws now. At least I was finally able to cut this stump down to the ground.
