yea it's easier to use the spray/wax graphene/ceramic after wash stuff b/c you just spray/wax w/ a towel and youre gtg

while w/ traditional ceramic coatings you use that tiny sponge

and that'd be a little annoying on a mower deck b/c it's not flat and has all these weird ridges (at least mine does)
While I was researching ceramic coatings for my car, I read a bit about those "graphene" and "ceramic" sprays. The prevailing opinions on Autogeek were that the sprays are marketing gimmicks that work no different than other regular car detail/finish sprays (inferior protection for a base coat).

I found this guy's site the other day that 3d prints brackets for Ego and Kobalt stuff. Ordered a couple of things for my Ego string trimmer, blower and hedge trimmer. I have pegs in the garage from a previous owner but the stuff doesn't sit right on it so figured it'd be worth trying this out:

Replying to my own post. Those mounts came in and I had 10 minutes to find a scrap piece of plywood, grab the nearest can of Krylon and throw it on the garage wall. Left an extra space b/c I think soon I'm going to get the 8-in-1 multihead and Edger combo. Have a couple of battery mounts also but the charger is on the other side of the room because there's no plug on that wall. The rakes hang down in between the blower and clippers so it fits nicely. And the garage closes, so win win.

I was talking more for cars, as a PSA that it's probably marketing bullshit, so people don't mistake the spray shit for real ceramic coatings that last years.

As for it's use on vehicles, it all depends on how often you use it and how long you are going to keep the car. The detailing spray usually wears off the fastest and AFAIK it was originally developed for car show guys to give the paint that extra gloss, after you get parked at the show.

Most Americans that are on the debt roller coaster get rid of their car before any pant damage would be manifested, even if they never once waxed or washed their vehicle. Even for car enthusiasts, our main draw of a good quality wax/polish/ceramic coat is that it gives the paint that deep wet look. Everyone has their preference, but various polishes have impressed me the most on that front (Rejex, Wolfgangs, Zaino). Unfortunately, it doesn't last near as long as a real ceramic coat.

For applying to a mower, to keep dirt/grass from sticking so much, there might be cheaper alternatives that just add a hydrophobic layer, but aren't so concerned with how it makes the paint look.

You could try what those sissy Jeepers do and spray the bottom of the deck with J&J baby oil. Gotta admit it smells nice.

Went with a Wagner 915e steamer for my upholstery , worked great. We're going to rent a carpet shampooer later on in the month then those chores are done for another year....

NGL , those look like they'd be basic prints. If you end up needing more drop me a line, those have to be on an STL site somewhere. I know all my Ryobi brackets (which I printed for myself) were....

This experience has made me go learn a lot.....

Yes, I'm seriously debating an interlock and better generator here at the house. But also this house has an older and horrible panel which I need to replace first, and the wife and I don't plan on living in this house more than another year or two. And right now, as much as we're debating making this house a rental property, all the houses around me are being bought for over asking price, prompty torn down, and new McMansions being built in their spots, so we might either sell, of build a McMansion here and sell then.

So now I'm focusing on "when we build our next house, how am I making sure this power situation doesn't rear it's ugly head". And since I will have the money to "throw some money at the issue" I'm looking at as near to "off grid" as I can get leveraging solar, backed up by a generator which will be dual fuel (gas and propane), and a sufficient battery wall to buffer power. I'll be installing a smarter panel where it can detect if it's on backup power and shut off non-essential circuits. It will be expensive, but I am ready to not have to worry about power like I am today for a few decades. heh
In the meantime, one of these is handy to have in a drawer if you want to know what your appliances actually draw instead of estimating.

I have one of those around somewhere, actually I think I have two. Just last week it was a "Doesn't matter, plug it in since you know the generator should cover 4 basic appliances" heh

I'll have to check out the wax/ceramic options for the mower deck. Here was the situation the other day, after a somewhat wet mow. Probably 30 lbs wet.

Bring without power for the majority of last week, as I mentioned, led me to dive deep down a rabbit hole planning for the country house we're going to build, including all the power backup , solar generation, etc options. One of those that I will be employing is a technologically advanced breaker box which also monitors. You have options, for instance, to say "If we're on this power source, only power the following essential circuits".

Any suggestions on the type of dirt to fill holes in y your yard? My dogs dug a bunch of holes when they were younger. Ive bought 'top soil' and various types of dirt, but they all seem to have some sort of manure mixed in which just encourages my dogs to redig that spot

Eh, no thanks. I have no need for a graph of my refrigerator turning on and off all day. I just want to know what something draws and I don't want to fuck around with connecting to wifi or installing software on my phone for fuck's sake.

I mean... you'd rather pull out your fridge and crane your neck trying to check some ancient gadget than just use the internet to send the data to the one device everyone has and uses for most of these kinds of things anyway?

Think this through for a second

early this year i pulled a lot of weeds, like hundreds w/ a weed puller and they left a lot of divots, i used 50/50 sand and top soil. youre supposed to mix in sand b/c it doesn't breakdown, it's just there for volume, play sand works fine

Dirt with a significant amount of clay is good for filling holes and then cover with some sort of top soil so stuff can grow. The guy that owned the house and land my parents bought a while back was a timber buyer. He sucked at his job and he needed to "feed the mill" so he cut trees on his own property and created very large holes because they used a whole tree harvester (grab the tree and pull it out of the ground root ball and all). They filled the holes in with top soil and it didn't last long. Washed away or further down the hole. They got some dirt that had a lot of clay and over time it compacted in and filled the hole.
