Is there a working hdmi switch? I've tried two and they can never "detect" input properly so they don't let me switch to that cable. I don't want them to detect it, I just want them to switch...

Yamaha and Denon receivers are nice.

For speakers what are those "generic" amazon only Polk's they are like the best price ratio etc.

I was already leaning Yamaha or Denon but was more curious about which model would be best as far as power/watts etc. I tried some light googling around and couldn't find anything specific or threads dating back to 2012.

Edit: almost forgot, the TV it'll all be supporting is the Samsung 65" ks8000 series

For receivers I usually end up just stalking slickdeals for the couple of brands I'm watching out for and make an impulse buy based on how good the deal is and how it matches up w/ my needs.

Looks like the video switching ability on my old Denon/Integra DTR-6.5 crapped out over the weekend. My cable box and PS3 fed component to it, along with optical audio. While the computer did HDMI straight to the projector, and optical to the receiver. It crapped out on me while watching a bunch of hockey and football yesterday. After much fucking around the common denominator was the receiver. The projector worked fine if plugged directly in to the cable box or the PS3, but wouldn't pick up a signal if plugged in to the receiver. It just conked out in the middle of watching the Heritage Classic.

Probably time to switch over to HDMI being fed from my devices direct to the receiver, and getting rid of the mix of component, HDMI, and optical audio. It'll be good to get rid of a few cables. Any recommendations for a good receiver that can handle 4 HDMI inputs and video switching? It's driving some pretty decent speakers (old Klipsch RF-5's, along with a sub and a couple Klipsch rears), but nothing too crazy.

I really like pioneer receivers and I'm running this right now. https://www.amazon.com/Pioneer-SC-9...1?ie=UTF8&qid=1477361303&sr=8-1&keywords=sc95

Don't pay 1600 for it though because it always goes on sale. I'm running a 5.2.4 setup and it has worked flawlessly. I have my xbox, ps4, hd blueray, cablebox, and computer plugged into it with no switching problems. Maybe a slight delay when switching around but nothing I would knock it for.

So while researching receivers and prices more I found a nice looking Denon bundled with a Klipsch set https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01FIKHMD4?psc=1. Any ideas how this bundle would pair up to the Andrew Jones base set? I think I'd go with this receiver with either or, but not sure I want to spend the extra 200$ the full andrew jones would cost me.

How can you tell if a soundbar has a built in amp or not? I'd like to limit the amount of hardware I have to buy.

There are soundbars that are not powered? 110% of the time and application of soundbars ... its not someone pluggin it up to a receiver. Althought maybe somewhere someone wants 3 speakers wired together in a box and plug that up to L C R channels?

Thanks for the site. I think I'm set on the Denon s920w, what're peoples opinions on refurb receivers though?
My only experience with refurbished receivers was a Denon from that exact site. It came with a year warranty which was great because it had to go into the shop every 3-4 months. Finally the warranty wore out and it died again for the same thing. I tossed it and bought a new Yamaha and have been carefree since.
