She gave him hope because she didn't want him to kill himself. He trusted her as she lead him along the maze until they finally grabbed him.

The only thing I didn't understand is Saul was inside of the factory completely out of eyesight. The door he rushed through had a window in it. Why didn't he take a SECOND to glance through the window before barging through the door into the enemies waiting arms? I realize it was for the show, but it didn't seem logical to me.
To show his 100% complete trust in Carrie, it's why ppl drive into lakes that magically appear b/c of GPS.

This season so far feels refreshing : no more Brody family bullshit drama, it's all about intelligence and politics. I like how the CIA guys are estranged in a country that portrays itself as a US ally against terrorism.

Yep, my wife and I just finished the last episode and were just commenting on how this is the best season since the first because it is back to focusing on spy vs. spy and no Brody family.

What is the play of the ISI guy though? Is it office politics with the scheming woman agent? Is he just pro-american or at least anti-taliban? Or maybe just a pragmatic who sees his interest in the long term? Did he fall in love with Carrie? Please let it not be N?3!
I just think there is a split within the ISI, which has been referenced in the show. Some have Taliban sympathies, some do not. I think we are seeing that struggle now. Which, I think, is super interesting.

One has to wonder why they want Carrie out so bad. Either A: they fear her super-spy abilities or B: Jackie-from-Roseanne's-husband is their man. I am leaning towards B.

Doesn't anyone feel it was a little ridiculous they couldn't send a helicopter to pick up Saul?

That was pretty ridiculous.

I'm curious as to how Saul and Carrie will survive the RPG's that hit their car, i find that part pretty far fetched too.
Also, it's pretty ballsy for Haqqani to be the one to lead the upcoming embassy attack himself, that part bugged me, he could have had his lackeys do it

I don't think it hit their car. It hit the lead and follow car. Theirs just slammed into the lead.

They're probably "we had an accident" style fucked up, not "an explosion disintegrated my body" style.

Holy. Shit. Great episode. Best of maybe the series, IMO.

Saul and Carrie's cars weren't hit, because if they were dead they wouldn't send troops to secure the VIPs. Also I loved Carries "I can kill US citizens on the battlefield, motherfucker!" line.

One of the best episodes of the series for sure. Also how they survive the RPG will bug me a little bit as it doesn't seem realistic that they could survive that.

Haqqani going all Rambo is going to end only one way now that the cat is out of the bag.

Their car was never hit by the RPG. There was 3 cars. Middle car was Carrie+Saul. Front and rear car are what got destroyed.

Yea it happened like this.

RPG hit car 1, car2 (carrie/saul) rear end car 1 get really fucked up and veer off.
car 3 full stops, doors open (soldiers getting out i assume) and 2nd RPG hit car 3

last car scene shows car 1 and car 3 on fire full BBQ, car 2 is just really fucked. Also everyone in car 2 weren't wearing seatbelts, they probably went flying all over.

Key note is the fact the fucking Paki head General is in with the Taliban as the prisoners were released to him. So likely the big Paki Gov supports the Taliban and Young General McHandsome is the only one that wants the Taliban shut down.

I enjoyed the episode but the ending reminded me of an episode of 24.

The build-up and anticipation of Saul possibly dying at any second the last two episodes are on par with Season 1 Brody with the vest episodes.

Shout out to the CIA Director for best totally-believable-reaction-to-the-situation line of any show so far this year: "What the fucking fuck!?"

So I don't understand the point of what the terrorists are trying to do at the end of the episode.

They didn't kill Saul and Carrie in the RPG attack(and easily could have, why didn't they?)

And now they are storming the embassy, but why? I would think their primary targets they want dead would be the highest ranking CIA people possible, 1 of which is outside in a wrecked SUV, not in the embassy. Are they trying to kill the ambassador? What are they going after, exactly? If they just wanted everyone dead, they would have filled that underground tunnel with explosives rather than storming it with ak-47s
