I was wondering if the pills were laced with something, or if it was simply a placebo in order to get her off her meds. I guess the hallucinations show that there was something in it, and not just a placebo.

I am really enjoying this season so far.

I did not care for this episode. I just wanted some old fashioned spec ops and spy shit. Not mind games.

It was interesting they made the bad dude kill his nephew right off the bat, then they humanize him after. Ass backwards, but I like it.

The not so good chat between the warlord and Saul at the table made me think about a brilliant french graphic novel calledThe Photographerthat tells the real story of a french photographer who followed a group of doctors in Afghanistan during the '80s. The guy is an atheist, but before the trip he is told that, if he is asked, he has to pretend to be a christian. The idea is that, for the locals, christians are just slightly misguided and that, given time, they might even realize they are foolish and find the true path to enlightenment and salvation. That provides the french team with enough good will, because they are seen as the drunk uncles or the slightly retarded cousins. Jews though, they are fucked. Two prophets and you can't even recognize one? You can't recover from being that wrong!

The Warlord is not a goat herder and the chat with Saul is not theological in nature, but that still reminded be of that brilliant book that I highly recommend.

As far as the plot of the episode goes, you would think that someone with a long history of mental illness would notice pretty quickly when meds are not doing what they are supposed to do.

Or Quinn who is usually jonny on the spot, just let's Carrie go unleashed, and doesn't notice something a little bit extra wrong with her.

Yeah, I guess you can make the excuse that the high pressure operation going on round the clock has everyone off their game. Someone should have noticed Carrie tweaking out.

The one inept guard trope... god damn it all. The show is generally more clever than that.

Also, I found this funny but the Arabic text message the lady was sent is an English cognate. It says, literally, "American Soldiers Come Here."

You know that killed Carrie hearing Saul scream at her. If he survives, and I assume he will, their relationship is fucked for the foreseeable future.

Looking forward to the ambassador's wife getting his shit pushed in, fuck that guy.

I absolutely love this season so far.

Way better episode than the last for me. I really wanted Saul to shoot enough Taliban to get himself lit up like a real goddamn American hero. Watching Saul take 100 bullets then spewing blood and saying "fuck you" one last time would've been awesome.

But don't get me wrong, nothing wrong with the best character in the show staying alive. Now we get to watch Quinn fuck with the ambassador's hubby. I can't wait for that.

Ok fuck the next homeland eps, i just want to see 1hour long flash backs of Saul, the James Bond years. Where he just knifes 1 commie (i'm guessing that far back he'd have to be against the russians) after another. Then how Russian involvement in the middle east puts him in Pakistan and he has to knife some Arabs.

What is the play of the ISI guy though? Is it office politics with the scheming woman agent? Is he just pro-american or at least anti-taliban? Or maybe just a pragmatic who sees his interest in the long term? Did he fall in love with Carrie? Please let it not be N?3!

Think he's just the 'new guard' and actually dislikes the Taliban and wants to rid Pakistan of them. He just knows he can't truly do anything himself, but he can motivate the Americans to do the shit he wants while making them look bad in the process. Win/win for him, and Americans just won't give a fuck about our global image per usual. Cuz Merica.

And it also doesn't hurt if his coworker (the chick) looks like an idiot in the process when her spying bows up in her face. Better job security for him if he's next in line to be the ambassador or whoever the old guy in charge is. One of the easiest ways to look good is to make your competition look bad.

The other angle is that while it is nice to put the hurt on the "enemy", the Taliban are a threat to Pakistan as well. The prisoner swap hurts Pakistan as much as it hurts the U.S.

True. And with that guy apparently representing the military side of Pakistan(I assume from the uniform), he's the one that is going to have to immediately deal with the repercussions of all those guys getting loose(like when they mentioned one of the prisoners had car bombed a city and killed dozens of civilians)

Well the one question remaining is that the Pakistan Intelligence guy Farhad Ghazi works for the Pakistani lady. They, ostensibly, seem to have given Saul to Haqqani for reasons unknown. What was the purpose of this?

She gave him hope because she didn't want him to kill himself. He trusted her as she lead him along the maze until they finally grabbed him.

The only thing I didn't understand is Saul was inside of the factory completely out of eyesight. The door he rushed through had a window in it. Why didn't he take a SECOND to glance through the window before barging through the door into the enemies waiting arms? I realize it was for the show, but it didn't seem logical to me.
