They'll have to sell Lucasfilm back to George and let him sort out the mess before I'd be interested again.

Yeah, it might not be as woke, but it'd still be total dogshit with Lucas at the helm.

Watched the first 26 minutes. The whole getting to the train as well as the train sequence was a CG-fest. Needed more practical effects.
TOTALLY AGREE!

The CGI effects sucked. I saw it in a huge digital theater. Painfully bad.
Why NOT do practical effects? Isn't that what made Fury Road great? (even though I didn't like it...)

Either humans are weaker now or everything is just made to be watched on a stupid phone.

The more I think about it, the more I dislike the movie, especially because I trekked out to the theater to see it on opening night. That's the best possible environment to receive positive feedback on any movie. I remember seeing Sudden Impact in a shit theater in the Bronx. Having people screaming at the screen was part of what made me love that movie. (Whenever I see any Dirty Harry movie I remember people yelling "look out Dirty Harry, He behind you! He behind you!")

I regretted paying to see crystal skull in theaters, with woke Disney? Hell no, Harrison Ford is old and sad. Just remember him from the 70s to 90s when he was still cool.

Yesterday, I learned from a key source that Indiana Jones and the Dial Destiny before $100M in estimated P&A, cost a mindboggling $329M. Much higher than the $250M-$295M that’s been leaked out there. Disney doesn’t comment on budgets, and I’m getting some pushback, but the high pricetag here is due to the start and stops of production during Covid, Harrison Ford’s $20M fee which I’m told, director James Mangold got a pretty penny, with Steven Spielberg reaping as is standard a huge producing fee here.

For a movie that needs to make $700M to break even that is not great. This one... this one sparks joy.

60m is pretty poor as that is on the low side of the first day projections. Doesn't seem like there's any good word of mouth to offset the low beginning. What a sad end.

What a big mistake not having a fat black woman for a sidekick so they could blame racism and body shaming on why the movie bombed. Guess sexism will be all they have. Yikes.

70 mil international 130 mil global. Flash was 139 mil global first weekend.

from Variety

‘Indiana Jones 5’ Underwhelms With $70 Million at International Box Office, ‘Spider-Verse’ Hits $600 Million Globally

“Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny” is stumbling in its box office debut, generating $70 million internationally and $130 million globally to start.

Those ticket sales wouldn’t be bad, except for the fact that Disney and Lucasfilm spent $295 million before marketing to bring the fifth and final action-adventure, starring Harrison Ford, to the big screen. “Dial of Destiny” is posting similar numbers to Warner Bros. and DC’s misfire “The Flash,” which opened to $75 million internationally and $139 million globally but cost $100 million less to make. Both of those tentpoles are expected to lose money in their theatrical runs.

This thing is doing worse than Flash?

Cool, maybe next time they bring back a beloved legacy character, don't make it a movie that "deconstructs" him to prop up a younger replacement who is better at everything.

Are these companies held hostage if you're a woman or minority? There is no way she can continue to destroy IPs (are any left now to destroy?) and keep her job. This is insanity. Yeah, I know, welcome to clown world. But there has to be a breaking point sometime.
Shes been in the business forever and her hands by way of Spielberg/Lucas are on endless actual successful/liked movies. She probably has a lot of dirt on people or favors that make it untenable to just fire her.

This film has to make a Billion to even break even. Let that sink in.

And supposedly there's a rumor that a bunch of turmoil is going on at LucasFilm. Latest rumor is KK's email has been shut off and her calendar has 2 week's paid vacation on it.
She fired yet?
