I played the first section this weekend. As a visual and narrative experience, I like it. The game play is fine and fits the game. I guess Indy mass slaughtering people with a minigun in every level would be out of character. I know Machine Games can make a good single player FPS.

Too many puzzles for my liking but fantastic game nonetheless. AI is dumb af but as long as it’s fun I don’t care.

Just wrapped this up. Anyone who is a Raiders fan will love this game. Gameplay was average and combat was meh. But the story and voice acting and exploration and set pieces were just fantastic.

Also watching the credits and listening to the epic music, I’m seeing a lot of Vikings names and wasn’t any major fucking around with identity politics or any of that shit.

Most definitely worth it. RIP Tony Todd :( He’ll of a voice performance as usual. Troy Baker nailed Indiana jones. Man. Was Harrison ford through and through.

Hope to see more of these types of games.

Getting at least 1 more Indy game sequel, plus a possible 3rd game.

I could not get into it. It played fine but I hate hate hate sneaking games.
This is my shortcoming as well. I may someday try to play this but it doesn't seem to fit me very well, and as much as I love making myself miserable, I will save that for mein Kinder.

sounds like disney is happy but i'm not sure the game has sold crazy well, but of course its on gamepass and PS5 version isn't due out until Spring. Plus Microsoft has literally nothing else people really want other than call of duty and a new Forza Horizon

i'm on the last chapter or two and really, really enjoying the game. Have been crazy busy so haven't had much time to play the last week but can't wait to finish.

You are going to love the final chapter when it all comes together.

I am a big fan of the "Uncharted" games (which would never have existed without "Raiders of the Lost Ark" / Indiana Jones).

I bet I will like it when it gets to PS5.

I could not get into it. It played fine but I hate hate hate sneaking games.

Act 1 is definitely a ton of sneaking early on but halfway through powering up and skilling up, even on Hard difficulty, I had the choice between sneaking and just beating a ton of ass even in Act 1.

By Act 2 I had the option to grab fully loaded semis and dump a mag on anyone that had a problem.

The devs did a good job balancing the gameplay to where stealth is cool if you want to play stealth, but you can also just beat a ton of ass using melee and whip moves or guns. It's all there.

It's medicore combat-wise overall, but they gave the player enough freedom to make choices in how they want to play which is indicative of good design.

Just wanted to be clear there is no forced stealth in the game once you get some skillups if you stick with it past the start.

The only thing is if you start using guns, all the enemies will start using guns. Which is fine, but you gotta plan that out because you can't reload the looted weapons and you'll get fragged pretty fast if there are more than a few enemies all shooting

Had some free time finally and finished the game, really enjoyable and never feels like it drags on. If anything it feels a bit short, I think I finished 100% in under 20 hours and did everything. Combat is probably the weakest part of the game, while I do enjoy it it never really felt hard except if you accidently alert an entire camp and then its just faster restarting checkpoint than fooling the AI with tricks. I think I still do prefer third person to first person but I never really had any problems with it here other than usual FPS problems, "who is shooting me" or NPCs blocking you.

Its nowhere near a perfect game, I think Gina was kinda odd, everything about her sister felt like cut DLC or something, the last chapter feels a bit rushed, and the "secret ending" is extremely underwhelming. Still, I enjoyed it enough that I'll play a sequel... if its on gamepass.

Only tip I'd say is for the secret ending, you need to collect 50 relics but the trophy for the relics requires all 50 to be in your bag. Do NOT insert them into the wall before you collect all 50, or you will lock yourself out a trophy. One nice thing, at the main menu under save slots you can rollback to a previous save slot using X button and that saved my ass on that trophy.

It is literally the only decent piece of media they have made for over a decade.

Act 3 needing to collect all the small cogwheels with you for other puzzles, I wish they told you that somehow. Backtracking for them is annoying.

The game in general seems to be the type that just dumps you into some open maps and makes you backtrack all the time. Definitely a way they make the game longer than it needed to be.

I mean you don't HAVE to do that stuff. Personally I would have liked a different way to unlock the bonus ending scene that was less tedious, but outside the main quest and the field work quests, you could skip most of everything else and not really miss much in the way of interesting content

Yeah I stopped really caring about sidequests after a while, just makes the game feel slower and more tedious than I liked. I'll do them occasionally if I just stumble upon one or happen to be in the right area, but not going out of my way for them.

Well I finally beat the game. Took me about 20+ hours. My thoughts are it's one of those games where the worst thing about it was the playing the game part. Like the story was good, Indiana Jones is a great character that I enjoyed seeing again, and the side characters are alright, with the main bad guy being pretty good although a bit cartoonish, but the other bad guys felt like really goofy and corny ass characters. The journey is interesting for the most part but it felt like they really had a lot of stuff that's there just to make it longer. I didn't even bother with most of the side quests, especially after I got past the first open area because it felt like I had seen what the gameplay is all about and I just didn't enjoy the combat at all really.

That really gets me to where this game felt like a letdown, it just wasn't that fun to play. The fist fighting was just awful, you have some stupid stamina gauge to deal with like you can only swing a couple punches until he's apparently too tired to still put up a fight, you can tell they wanted you to focus more on the blocking and parrying but you can rarely just stand there and fight one dude like that for long. Big part of that is how it's one of those games that tries to make you go about it all stealth like but all the enemies are a part of some hivemind where the second one gets alerted everyone around them gets alerted and goes after you in an instant. So most of the time I was just trying to sneak around and bash them over the head with some melee object which got really boring, especially given how the stealth awareness just isn't that good either.

The shooting was truly awful. Like I would aim at some dude's neck and the only result would be his hat flying off. Shooting them felt like chipping away at a health bar, every enemy can apparently take multiple shots with everything but the shotgun, and even then there's these enemies with face masks who can take two shotgun blasts. There's no saving ammo either besides the revolver and side weapon for the enemy disguise, so you're just constantly having to try and pick up weapons if you're trying to shoot it out, and picking up weapons felt really clunky. I hardly ever used my revolver, I think I only used it during a couple of boss fights with that giant character and that's about it. I think the biggest problem with any gun engagement is how the second you shoot someone it triggers the everyone is alerted response so it felt like a chore to play the game that way.

In the end it's a game that I am glad I am over with, and even though I can revisit locations and complete side quests I just have zero desire to go back and do any of that shit because as I said the gameplay feels like the worst part of this game. Seeing the story though was the only thing pushing me to complete it. It's definitely a one n done game for me, where it's like I've seen it, played it, and I don't think I will ever have a desire to go back to it. A good gamepass game then, not worth purchasing IMO but worthy of the download. It'll probably be one of the last games I really play on gamepass as well because my subscription is about to expire next month and I doubt I will bother with renewing it again, but if you got gamepass there's worse ways to spend your time.

Stamina resets per knockout, so it's not really an issue if you are getting fast KO's. Only if you whiff or get blocked a few times could it be an issue. But I played the entire game on hardmode and never felt stamina limited, even during red alerts. Just have to beat a ton of ass really fast, and yeah that will require completion run and full abilities/power.

I went golden gloves on hard mode boxing championship so maybe I'm just good at the combat. Once you figure out the moves you just shred through shit but I could see being underpowered and skipping most of the content causing a problem.

If you skipped most of the sidequests and prog you don't really get the power you need.

The stamina on KO is a learned ability I think, but it makes a huge difference

RE: his complaint on guns. I have gotten 1-hit headshots. Headshots exist.

But after realizing it's not guaranteed, I stopped going for them. The hit detection is shoddy, and I agree it's a bit lame that center mass and shots to the thighs/legs seem to be counted equally. There is a bullet sponge issue that needs a mod fix to make gun fights more fair to the player. But again, I'm on hard mode so probably a bit more hitpoints. I ditched guns since using all of your empowered melee options is safer. Just have to get the whip disarm gun off if a gun gets near you and watch your line of sight. Only time I have an issue with a red alert is if I don't have cover to maneuver and they can fire guns from outside whip range.

I agree Indy's revolver is worthless for the aforementioned reasons since amount of shots required to kill is too high considering all the heat a gun will draw. There is definitely an imbalance. A good center mass should have a chance at a one-hit, and 2 hits should be a kill. That being said they could have easily not had guns in the game at all (like Dying Light 2 did) to make some kind of statement, so I'm glad they at least included guns even if it's obviously tacked on and poorly implemented.
