I don't even know where to post this... found this out today.

Stopped by a local state forest, which in hte past sold native plants. They stopped doing it this year do to attempting to slow/stop the spread of invasive asian earthworms.

But with that, I learned something. No earthworms are native to Northern us/canada. newengland, michigan, etc.
All current earthworms in northern US/canada came from Europe. or now asia.

Apparently, the glaciers killed them all in the past.

Holy fucking shit.

LMAO I never thought I'd see the day. Fuckin awesome.

Southwest is now available for families, not just cat ladies travelling alone.

The problem is their technology is from 1978 so... not sure how that will work out.

Also the entire point of flying SW is to put a bag on "Uncle Ray's" middle seat so people walk by and you get more room. I don't understand why I'd fly them if they aren't going to add premium seating.

I assume the exit row seats will be considered the premium seats - they have a huge amount of pitch.

Their definition of premium will probably be something like Economy+ on United or Main Cabin Extra on AA - standard economy seat but with more pitch, a free cocktail, and probably dedicated overhead bin space.

Given recent events, I would say having 1978 technology might be advantageous for South Western.

I have a friend that's in the UAS program at Hensel Phelps that I was chatting with yesterday about nerd shit.

He said they've been using robotic rovers for construction layouts on some of their projects. HP tests all sorts of stuff so I wasn't really surprised to hear that they were testing it.....but I was pretty surprised to hear him say that it works pretty damn well.

Supposedly Silphilum

The contraceptive of ancient Pompeii, thought extinct since the first century AD when the last known stalk was gobbled down by emporer Nero, found in Turkey near the site of ancient Greek settlements.

I've always thought is was strange that it would be extinct. I'm glad it's been rediscovered.

I remember reading that last year. They think it might be silphilum, but they honestly have no way of knowing for sure since there is no surviving sample of silphilum to test the DNA against. There is also a hypothesis that the silphilum that Rome loved was a subspecies. The only things we really know about the plant is it may have been a type of fennel, the seeds were heart shaped, they considered asafetida to be an acceptable substitute in food recipes (which you can still get), and ancient people were never able to domesticate or grow the plant on farms.

The fact that Rapamycin was discovered literally in the soil in front of the Easter Island heads is the only thing that's ever made me consider the possibility of ancient aliens/lost civilization type stuff.

That's a fucking weird one.

Someday the rest of you will catch up with me. Gen Z already is.

Its lonely sometimes being so far ahead of the curve, but eventually they catch up with you

“I got so used to quiet hallways the last few years. They were just staring at their phones. When it started coming back, it was noticeable. And it was awesome. It reminded me of what the hallway used to be like — a loud conversation, kids engaged with each other. And that has nothing to do with instruction, but has a lot to do, in my opinion, with the psychological state of the school.”
Now do the rest of society
